Hi, robertfromottowa.....what model of Canon Multifunction printer/scanner do you have? ..... you'd have to check Canon's website for updated Sonoma (Mac OS 14) drivers... plus any firmware updates if your Canon Printer/scanner needs any.....Preview, which is built into the OS will work just fine for trial scans/basic use.... this link : _view/a_id/1041213/session/L3RpbWUvMTY5NzA2NDA0Ny9nZW4vMTY5NzA2NDA0Ny9zaWQvZlV6TXVxeWRFRkwwbyU3RU1sX0hDM2slN0UyX0pDX3lUcmNWd3lMWXpNaVpRd09ENGlzRVpoZ3dlRlQ0NnclN0VBVFF4WFliY1NodUhSV3ZxTElWbHVVTmt3SmVmUVBNZ2lZanR4a2RsZ0pkWFRjc0IyWEk5eEcyODRRTmp3JTIxJTIx will let you see if your printer/scanner will work with Big Sur/Ventura for sure.... Sonoma is a pretty new version of MacOS, I'd dare say it's the most recent version, and as such, it's not in beta anymore (whew !) but printer manufacturers are going to have to update their printer/scanner drivers for full functionality under Sonoma.... here's the Canon page for drivers/software for their printers : _ca/software-and-drivers, sadly, I don't know the exact model of Canon printer/scanner you have so I can't really help you that much....you have to get that and go to Canon's webpage for printer/scanner drivers and type in your model number of multifunction Printer/scanner.... which will then let you search for drivers for it.... otherwise, maybe VueScan from Hamrick Software.... ???

I checked the Canon website and there was no printer/scanner driver updates for my model TS8120. I then phoned Canon Tech Support and they initially confirmed that then said", hold on, an update just came through" and guided me through the installation of the update. Problem solved and Printer/Scanner now working fine. I really appreciated your setting me in the right direction to solve the problem . I am not that great dealing with technical problems and am thankful for the assistance I receive from people such as you. Thanks again.

Hi.........I had called Canon support and at first they started guiding me thru an update then decided to give me the actual Canon Printer program which i saved in Applications and now just print from that. I still cannot connect with the printer via the settings as before however the program they gave me works just fine. For my purpose, Image Capture is detected in settings and that also works.

Canon MF 634CDW no longer works after Sonoma upgrade. -installed all Canon drivers available. Garbled - So choked as its a $$800 printer. Now what .. UGh have no idea how to fix this. anyone have any ideas?

I have a Canon Pixma printer/scanner. I'm trying to scan something and an error message comes out. It keeps saying "can not communite with scanner for these reasons: USB cable is disconnected. Scanner is turned off".

Hi Sadharlow,

Welcome to the Canon forum! So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know what model printer you are using. Any other details you'd like to give will only help the Community better understand your issue. If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Try uninstalling the MG3500 Series MP Drivers, IJ Network Tool and IJ Scan Utility from the computer. Once this has been done, make sure that a USB cable is not connected to the printer. Then download and install the latest MG3500 series MP Drivers from our website. You can access the latest downloads at the following link:

Hi everyone. I'm new to the community and not sure if I'm in the right place for this discussion or not. I'm Just bought my TS3522 about 2 weeks ago, and I can't figure out how to scan from my printer to the laptop. I don't know what button to push to let my printer know I want to scan. The other problem is I'm not sure if I need drivers in my computer in order to scan. Please help. I have a deadline to meet and I'm running out of time. Thank you in advance.

That page will walk you through installing the software to streamline your setup. If that doesn't work, just let us know here, and we'll put you in touch with a tech; or if you need immediate help, you can also register your printer and reach out to support via your My Canon Account at canon.us/account

I would recommend reinstalling the MX920 printer/scanner driver since the scanner is no longer listed in the Quick Menu. Before you reinstall the driver, I recommend removing the current driver from your computer before you reinstall the driver.

I just upgraded from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to 10.7.5 Lion and could not order a scan from my Mac Book Pro for my Canon MX922. Going to Image Garden and clicking on SCAN did accomplish the scan; however, sure wanted to use the Canon Quick Menu (Creative Park Premium) software. I eventual accomplish this by the following>

This appears to be an endemic problem with Canon Quick Menu; it persists even today with my MG6200. It doesn't appear that Canon has an effective fix for this, so I would offer the following work-around:

I have a new mac laptop (first mac). My printer/scanner is a Canon MX452. The printer shows up in my list of printers in System Preferences "Printer & Scanners" and I can print from my Mac to the printer. I've got the printer set up and working. However, the same device is also a scanner, but it does not list itself as one there and gives no scan option.

I downloaded the scan driver from the Canon website, and I have "Canon IJ Scan Utility" in my applications. I can open that, but when I try to scan it says Scanner is turned off or USB cable is disconnected. My scanner is on, but I don't have the computer attached to it with a cable. I want to wirelessly scan (just like I can print).

I can print wirelessly from my Mac, but my Pixma MX522 scanner doesn't work since I downloaded Catalina. I downloaded the software Canon IJNetwork Tool 4.7.2 and Quick Menu 2.8 with no effect. Where to go, what to do? Thanks.

I just purchased a Canon Pixma G7020 and have set it up wirelessly. I have been able to print from my computer but not scan. I downloaded the Scanner Utility and tried to set it up. It's not recognizing the scanner. I get the same message as mentioned in earlier posts.

I tried to scan directly from the printer/scanner itself, using the panel, but that requires saving a scanned image to the computer. Since the machine doesn't work wirelessly, the only save option requires me to connect the machine via a USB cable rather than wirelessly.

Needless to say this is frustrating! Part of why I bought this printer was that I read that many things could be done using web-based software rather than the hard-to-read panel. But if the software doesn't work, that the option is not viable.

I just bought a Canon MG6821 printer/scanner. Although the Best Buy salesperson assured me that it "should be easy" to set it up, I spent an hour on the phone with a Geek Squad person. He got it set up wirelessly. I can print from my iMac (running Yosemite) and from my new iPad Pro. Today I discovered that I cannot scan. The computer cannot find the scanner and vice versa. Another hour online with the Geek Squad was of NO help. They suggest that someone come to my home. For a brand new device! Before I return it, any help would be appreciated. I am a senior citizen who needs EASY directions if there is a fix.

I was NOT able to scan. I called the Tech Support number and a WONDERFUL agent named Nick had me go through a bunch of things untl he discovered that the fix was relatively simple (now, after a total of over 2.5 hours on the phone with Best Buy...). The scanner LAN setting was for my 2G Wi-Fi network and my computer was set to the 5G network. For some reason, the printer communicated with my iMac, but not the scanner. Now everyone is speaking to each other! Thank you, Nick!

I only use drivers from Microsoft. For Windows 10 that is a 32-bit driver from 2006 that uses ksthunk.sys. That is probably the problem. I'm not sure why Microsoft is not using a current 64-bit driver to support Canon MG3620. I assume because that is what works best with Canons firmware?

I've used the MG5220 happily for about 10 years. Still going strong (although I am eyeballing new models). I recently updated the driver because I was having trouble adding the printer to 2 devices on my local network. The "new" driver (circa 2015) solved that problem and my 2 new devices are printing successfully.. yay!
