Agorgeous colorful poster for DreamWorks Animation's The Croods popped up last week, and now the caveman comedy from How to Train Your Dragon collaborators Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco has an official trailer. The animation is stellar, but I'm not so sure the voice of Nicolas Cage jives with his character's design. This is merely a tease for the adventure in store for The Croods (instigated by Emma Stone's characters curiosity), and we don't even get a glimpse of Ryan Reynolds' character in the trailer. There's impressive imagery here, but we'll have to wait for another trailer to get a better idea of the story.
How To Train Your Dragon collaborators Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco are co-directing this prehistoric animated feature film, which was also developed with the help of Monty Python troupe member John Cleese. The film follows The Croods, an introverted family, who find themselves guided out of their cave into this dynamic world by a resourceful newcomer (Ryan Reynolds) who may bring more stress than relief to the patriarch (Nicolas Cage) of the family. Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman also voice characters in the DreamWorks Animation film slated to theaters in 3D on March 1st, 2013.
The Croods, an animated family of cavemen, are rolling back onto UK and Ireland screens on 21st February 2021. Though almost consigned to prehistory after being cancelled by Dreamworks in 2016, you can see the characters voiced by Nicholas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Mann and Peter Dinklage, in the first trailer for The Croods: A New Age, below.
As the name suggests, the film sees "the world's first family" venturing into new lands, only to find a more advanced family of prehistoric people, called the Bettermans (see what they did there?). While it's set thousands of years ago, there's plenty of up-to-date humour for all ages and vaulable lessons to be learnt by Stone Age- and 21st-century-folk alike.
This exclusive trailer shows a sneak peek at the Croods' world, which involves living in the suburbs of Ahhh! Valley, going to school and making best friends, hunting for food with crazy creatures around, and dealing with snooty neighbors.
Following the first trailer from October, DreamWorks Animation has unveiled the second trailer from The Croods. Nicolas Cage, Catherine Keener, Emma Stone, Clark Duke, and Cloris Leachman star as the title family, whose close-minded ways are put to the test when they encounter the free-thinking Guy (Ryan Reynolds) on their quest to find a new home. DreamWorks's favorite prehistoric is back for more after a short break from The Croods: Family Tree. Season 8 is on the way with seven new episodes promising more family fun, and a bit of drama, between the Croods and the Bettermans. Ahead of the release, Collider can share an exclusive trailer with a look at the sort of hijinks the family will get up to this time, from big games to big laughs and maybe a few broken bones along the way.
The trailer starts with a bang as Eep (Ally Dixon) rock boards gracefully through the air. She'll find plenty of ways to keep herself occupied in the upcoming episodes, whether it's through participating in a football-like Throw-Go-Bowl competition against the punch monkeys, golfing rocks into a sleeping Grug's (Kiff VandenHeuvel) mouth, or teaching the Bettermans how to sled down hills. The Croods and Bettermans are getting along as they live and play together, and everyone's along for the ride including Gran (Artemis Pebdani) and Sandy (Dee Bradley Baker) who make perfect hunting partners, and even Hwam who nobody seems to remember. Viewers won't have to wait long for these new adventures as the trailer also unveils a November 9 release date.
It's not all fun and games in The Croods: Family Tree Season 8, however. The kids will find themselves in hot water as their "Dare Game" goes too far while Grug takes his competitive nature to an extreme during the Throw-Go-Bowl and ends up alienating his teammates. Everything culminates in a massive feud that threatens to split the Croods and the Bettermans for good. Whether on the big or small screen, however, this family always finds ways to reconcile its differences, and it'll be the kids who rise to the occasion this time with a grand spectacle capable of reuniting everyone.
'The Croods' is the upcoming DreamWorks Animation movie that answers the burning question: what would Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone look like as cavemen? Is that enough to get your interest? Watch the new 'Croods' trailer to find out.
'The Croods' is a movie that has been in the works for a long time. Announced in 2005, the film was originally designed as a claymation film from the directors of 'Wallace & Gromit.' But when the partnership between DreamWorks and Aardman ended, the rights to the film (then titled 'Crood Awakening') reverted back to DreamWorks who had no experience with claymation and opted to design the film as a computer animated film.
While the original script was co-written by comedy genius John Cleese, it's unclear if this film bears any resemblance bears any real resemblance to Cleese's draft (he's not currently listed as a screenwriter on this film). Now the film goes as follows:
The film stars Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds and will be the first film released by DreamWorks after their latest film - 'Rise of the Guardians' - lost the studio over $50 million. Can this be the film that bounces them back? Watch the 'Croods' trailer below to see what you think.

An adventure of pre-historic proportions, The Croods was a box office beast, devouring over $500 million worldwide. These chunky trailer graphics helped establish the stone-age-fun that made this film so unique.
DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures have shared the first trailer of The Croods 2, just days after announcing that the animated sequel would release on 25 November instead of 23 December. The trailer offers the first look at the long delayed sequel.
Joel Crawford makes his feature directorial debut for the project, replacing original directors Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco. The original cast from 2013 film, including Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds returns for the sequel along with new voices, including Catherine Keener, Clark Duke, Randy Thom, Cloris Leachman, Leslie Mann, Peter Dinklage, and Kelly Marie Tran.
We caught the first trailer for the film back in October, and with its release now only a few months away, Apple have debuted the second trailer, giving us another great look at the animated adventure we have coming our way soon.
DreamWorks just took a giant bath on Rise of the Guardians, but is soldiering on with the task of selling its upcoming slate. The next release from the company's animation arm is The Croods, an Ice Age-style story about a prehistoric human family who daughter (voiced by Emma Stone) is desperate to explore the outside world. The Croods are forced out of their cave only to come face to face with a strapping young hero (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) willing to guide them away from the end of the world.
This new trailer isn't as effective as the first teaser was, in part, I think, because it focuses on goofier lowbrow humor, rather than spectacle. But there's an audience that will love this, I'm sure, so have a look below.
I'm glad for the reminder that even prehistoric women love shoes. Because that's a stereotype that's never not funny. That said, it's fun to see that an animated caveman based on Nicolas Cage is no less believable than the real thing. (That's said with real appreciation, mind you.)
