Wow..
Finally ice is breaking, and forum is moving.
Well my 4 points were just heuristic approach to super blog which is very much effective among Italian bloggers and in fact these four tips were given by my Italian Friend (
www.kagliostro.net) Heuristics are rules intended to help you solve problems. When a solution is unclear, applying a heuristic allows you to begin making progress towards a solution even though you can't visualize the entire path from your starting point.
Heuristics don't guarantee you'll find the optimal solution, nor do they generally guarantee a solution at all. But they do a good enough job of solving certain types of problems to be useful. Their strength is that they break the deadlock of indecision and get you into action. As you take action you begin to explore the solution space, which deepens your understanding of the problem. As you gain knowledge about the problem, you can make course corrections along the way, gradually improving your chances of finding a solution.
and similar thing is happening, here we are getting more solutions towards super blog.

There is no single rule that makes a blog popular. I read (scan) almost 100 blog post everyday using google reader, we have a team who scans for latest tech, finance happenings everyday. I have seen great blog posts by not so popular bloggers getting only few comments, also I have seen bad posts by popular bloggers getting more comments and all such combinations.
What matters is
1) Do you know your subject well?
2) Is it first hand, or first hand opinion?
3) Do you make fans otherwise?
Value of a blog = value of the blogger X average time spent on each blog post X the marketing (SEO, syndication, networking blah blah)

I think its time to change it, Look at
ted.com, our VCs watch it, makers of great companies watch it and refer it.
Not related but I think I should share it here (Some of my fav videos which I show before taking the related classes)
-
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/28
- Talks Seth Godin: Sliced bread and other marketing delights - How to make purple cows, also you can read the purple cow book. Summary - Playing safe is risky, be different, be remarkable
-
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/93 - Talks Barry Schwartz: The paradox of choice (Makers of the best Indian company made me watch this when I presented the new incentive structures) - Happiness and choices
There are more, some tech some philos, do watch the wikipedia video, amazon CEO video etc
Let this group grow more useful, what all blogs do you read. My last list is available at

And as it happens, most college networks block video streaming. as in, if your site streams videos, the entire site can get blocked by the security system of the network.
also, i don't quite agree with the "post everyday" thing, coz only a limited number of people read feeds every day and it is quite cumbersome to post everyday. also, quality of posts may suffer. once or twice a week is ideal in my opinion.
at the end of the day, it's the quality of your blog that holds it in its stead. if your blog is good, there will be many people who will recommend your blog to their friends and so on.
another thing that helps blogging is Search Engine Optimization.
now google considers blogs to be veritable, honest sources of information, if not accurate. so blogs rate high in search results, and by appropriate posting, tagging and keyword-targetting, you can get lots more traffic to your blog.
for example, if you blog about something that a lot of people tend to look for, but don't often find, like say an obscure piece of poetry, people searching for that will end up on your blog [as there might not be many other proper search results], thereby increasing your readership.
