Blogging is the mainstream media and the only trusted one I say..
Sure, you've been misquoted, but that doesn't mean you can writeoff mainstream media and say blogging is the only trusted one. There are blogs that are a total insult to subject matter, and English, for that matter - so 'trusting' a media source is entirely opinionated.
I'm also starting to wince in pain everytime I see this 'blogging vs mainstream media' ideas floated around. I personally think of blogging as a mechanism/platform/framework to "compliment" and "work with" mainstream media. Blogging never has and will never will get the reach that mainstream media enjoys, nor the credibility - not even with Big B, Laloo and going forward perhaps Yeddy blogging too. It doesn't help either that people like Aamir Khan post about their dogs licking their feet. Would you call those trusted media?
Every journalist looks like rita seeker to me.
While every journalist might look like a Rita, you also got to understand that we - the audience - like reading what we read. If things weren't as spiced up, then papers wouldn't sell as much as they would before. Maybe not 'we' as in this group, but the general mass, the junta, the folks who drive this democracy, in general, are news-spice-hungry.
This is just a small incident of misreporting, it affects Sanjukta and Priyanka perhaps - but there have been worse incidents. If you compare the ground realities of the Jaipur blasts and what came in TOI the next morning, you'll find a number of people, maybe a community itself, affected by the misreporting. But how many of us will, say, boycott purchasing TOI? Or protest? Or do anything about it besides arguing about it on a googlegroup?
