A lot of people tell me "Blogalorean" isn't a common name. For a new kind on the block trying to connect to bangalore bloggers, this name would never come to his mind. Agreed. But can't we make a brand?

When I went to the webpage where Indie bloggers have announced the Bangalore Bloggers Meet at Microsoft I wanted to leave a comment saying "I will be there". They said to comment you need to log in. I thought that 'log in' was something like there are some blogspot blogs which don't allow anonymous comment so you have to log in to blogger to comment.

After logging in I realised I just become a member of Indi bloggers. And that's how you make a brand. We have done so many activities so far but we never made registration compulsory. No logos or badges for promotion, no domain name no website.

We first united in July 2007. 8 months down, I think we have now reached a certain level of maturity to be a more well knit group. We will stick to the brand name Blogalorean and do so many activities under that brand that eventually a blogger would know what to search for when in Bangalore. Sounds good?

Our objective:

To begin with let me tell you what I have in mind as an objective and then you all tell me if you have something similar in mind.

  • To make a cohesive community of people from both tech and non tech walk of life and create a field where we all learn from each other and help each other to achieve common good.
  • To promote and generate awareness about new media tools amongst all section of society. From corporates to social activists, students, government officials, home makers, retired personnels, semi skilled workers, creative people artists etc, for we know that there is one tool or the other for everybody.
  • To conduct activities like blogging workshop (this one coming soon), new media workshops, blog consultancy etc. in order to achieve the above goals.
If all of you or at least a few majority of you identify with the above objectives we can register ourselves as a Non profit society and start doing the work.

Very eager to here from you...

You got my support on everything you've mentioned in the e-mail, including one more:
  • To make the Blogaloreans a fun community where, besides our common interest of blogging, we'd like to meet each other anyway.

Hi guys and gals

I am still trying to read the world in one stretch. Cleaned my tongue, but no luck!!! Can we make a little more easy brand name to  remember some thing like Blogalore

If everybody agreed with the Blogalorean still  I have one more suggestion - make it plural, BlogaloreanS

BlogaloreanS or Blogalore sounds better ?

My support will be there with all  Blogalore /  BlogaloreanS / Blogalorean

Cheers

Umm.. can we avoid the entire series of names which match /Bang*/
please, Biju? I'm usually asked 'Bang _what_?' when I mention that I'm a
member of such a group (which I am already, eh, so I speak from
experience ;)).

Best,
Sidu.

My take - :blogaloreans" is fine.
Just needs to be explained.

Blogalorean = Blog(ging) (Bang)alorean

What gets dropped in Ging Bang :-)

We need to give cues to pronouce - Blog-alor-ean

Cheers
