every google group - comes with a wiki like feature in the group
pages. Lets make use of that? shall we?

On the rates at Brew HaHa - I will talk to the owner. Can we list what
our requirements are?

- space (there is lots)
- WiFi (no problemo)

For non-techies....please follow these instructions, some very basic but guess it wud be helpful.

 

1. Go to this link http://bangalorebloggersmeet.pbwiki.com/About-Members

 

2. scroll down...till u find a tab saying "Edit Page"...ofcourse click it :)

 

3. Now, come to the last row, and then right-click and u get options of cell, row etc

 

4. Take the mouse over to "Row" and then click on "Insert Row".

 

5. U shud see a new row.

 

6. Copy & paste the details from the above row and u can fill ur details.

 

I hope this shud get u started, any issues/problems...I am on GTalk.

Only mods can do that.
I don't have much experience with Google groups but in Yahoo groups, a
thread cannot be made sticky cos yahoo groups is just a mailing list.

I could try for google groups but I'm not a mod ;)

It can be done on google group. The other group Blogger's Collective have done something like that. I just don't know how.

The About Memeber page is great for anybody outside the group to get an idea about who we are. But i still insist members here to use this thread to post your blog URL as soon as they join the group. This way we would know that a new kid is round the corner without making the effort of visiting the wiki page. It's like saying hello to a new group. Soon as you join. 

 

My concern is a new member and his/her blog URL should come to me as an alert instead of me sitting and thinking let me go and find out who is the latest to join blogalorean (man this is a difficult name).

 

We should also have another thread for latest blog posts. My concern is i should get some kind of alert but I also don't want RSS feeds of every blog and every post.  I am not making myself clear i can get that. May be we can discuss this more on 21st.

Guys I figured out how to make this thread a sticky thread... wow I feel so proud of myself... being a non techie. Some body even asked me what it means to be a sticky thread... it was Piyush I think.

 

Generally when you visit the group's web page here http://groups.google.com/group/blogaloreans you see the group messages are listed in chronological order last one first basis. Having made this thread a sticky thread, this would always always appear as the first thread and then would follow the rest of the messages in usual chronological order.

Nice group going and growing here, I assume thanks to Sanjuktha (guess
she started this thing up). I am Pranav, I go by "silkboard" on my
blog by same name on wordpress (http://silkboard.wordpress.com). I
started blogging in mid 2006, inspired by churumuri, and final trigger
was this urge to write about the very popular subject in Bangalore -
traffic.

I don't blog that actively on my personal blog now though, have moved
to a blogging/discussing community instead (http://
bangalore.praja.in). Few of us set this community up with the goal of
growing it into a citizen networking platform, though it is more of a
group discussion thing right now.

I do read some of the blogs mentioned here, and thought this group
could be a nice way to keep in touch with the local blogging
community. Hope to see some of you in near future in a meeting. I live
a bit far off in Whitefield though, makes it difficult to attend
meetings deeper in the city.

About myself, I am software techie like most folks here. Love to
