Hi all,

Hope you're all in the festive spirit. I just saw a cool thing from google which is the satantracker. Specifically the codelab and code boogie

I'm assuming this is blockly? But its a drastically different skin that I hadn't seen before. Did someone from the team work on this, if so congrats its really nice and I've sent it to my younger cousins to get them learning to code.

If it is blockly what kinds of changes did you need to do to redesign the blocks like this? They have a 3d aspect to them that isn't in the standard renderers which looks really cool

best,
Jonty

Hi Jonty!

I obviously didn't work on this, but looking at the page source is does seem to be Blockly =) I think it was released before the recent renderer refactor, so I'm sure changing how the blocks looked involved forking a lot of tricky code haha. But I don't have any details on it :/ Hopefully someone on the team can provide you with more info!

(I think it looks pretty dope as well)

Best wishes,

Hey Jonty,

I worked on Santa Tracker in 2016--specifically the Code A Snowflake activity, but haven't worked on it recently. They're definitely using Blockly, and have been for many years.

Their code is on github--here's the folder for codeboogie and the readme. They forked Blockly a long time ago: 2014.

Cheers,
Rachel
