Hi Group,

I had the idea of a 3D IDE, eventually being used with 3d gesture devices such as virtual goggles and hand movements.

My idea of the first stages of this would be 3d shapes that interlock and compile as legitimate binary, that have colour matching the unit test success and failures. Maybe the 3d shapes animate if you attach a process and the program blocks change attribute.

Could anyone point to some development activities around this if there is, (and if not I'd love to get it started) as I'd love to get involved.
I have 4 years industry experience, but have no projects currently.

Hi,
I'm not sure it'll be exactly what you're looking for, but it can a starting point: Blockscad https://www.blockscad3d.com/
There are a few others but I'm not sure they use really Blockly, some 'home made' block editor (I remember one called Alice, but I haven't searched this kind of Blockly for many years...).
Good luck.

You are free to build it.

However, in my opinion, code is 2D. blockly being 2D shares same truth, and going for 3D is pointless.

Project outline:

Preliminary
To create 3D voxels of blockly logic blocks.
To be able to create and save for later use more abstract voxels using component voxels
To create an IDE that is a studio for these voxels to generate and run compiled and interpreted binary using blockly/scratch logic
To create a colour scheme and animation interaction tied to unit tests and attached process running of binary.
