Greetings!
We are working on developing some teaching resources and thinking about how to support students who use one or two switches to navigate the new keyboard controls being rolled out. We have a beta version of an open source device using Adafruit's ESP32-S3 Reverse TFT Feather board that allows users to scan through a list of keyboard controls and sends the active control to a connected computer or mobile device.
The interface supports either two switch scanning (one switch navigates through list and second sends active control) or one switch scanning (automatic cycle through list and switch press sends active control). The firmware is made using circuitpython with the hope that none technical caregivers would be able to customize the list and timing speeds.
More details about this project are available on this
blog post along with build instructions.
Please let me know if anyone is willing to test this out or connect us with any interested parties. If you do not have the technical skills to build one but located in the US, we can fabricate one and send it over.
Thank you in advance for any feedback and support!
All the best,
Loreto
