On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD), we're proud to announce the first Blockly Accessibility Fund grant recipients! This fund empowers CS education-focused organizations to build and launch accessible block-based programming projects that help make coding education more inclusive for all.
By teaming up at the Accessibility Discovery Centre at Google London, Blockly and the Micro:bit Educational Foundation are collaborating to make block-based programming more accessible. This collaboration, fueled by the Blockly Accessibility Fund, empowers students with visual impairments and dexterity differences to learn to code.
Check out the Blockly Accessibility Hub to discover the latest updates in our accessibility product roadmap, links to accessibility feature experiments, and helpful resources all in one place.
We conducted user experience testing with children in October and discovered refined areas for improvement in Blockly's accessibility, particularly with keyboard navigation and focus. Now, we're inviting the community to help us make Blockly even better.
Thanks,
Joe, Cassandra, Rachel and the Google Blockly team
