Without having adjusted or changed anything, my Samsung C480FW Printer has started showing the message "Install Toner" on the LCD, with the display showing arrows pointing towards all four cartridges. Previously (before the "Install Toner" message appeared), indicators on the computer had shown all four cartridges are still reasonably full, and the cartridges themselves are most definitely the genuine approved Samsung type.
I've tried power cycling the printer (ie removing the power cable for a while), and also removing and re-seating the cartridges. This hasn't cured the problem although - perhaps notably - the message "Not Compatible Magenta Toner" sometimes appears briefly, and there's a bit of variance in the time taken (up to a few seconds) and order that the "Install Toner" and arrows appear on the screen. But it always quite quickly reaches a steady state - from where I can't do any printing - with "Install Toner" showing, with all four arrows.
Clearly something is wrong, since "Install Toner" is meant to indicate that cartridges are not installed at all (not the case) and "Not Compatible Magenta Toner" is meant to indicate that a third-party type of toner has been installed (not the case).
Today, I found that, the error is caused by conduct pins lost contact with the circuit board (which is located on the front door) . After I turned(switch) all the gold pins in clockwise direction to fix them, the error is solved. Hope this method may help you.
My Samsung M-3820DW keeps going "Offline", as in going into sleep mode quickly. To print, I have to press the OK menu button to wake it up - quite a pain every time we print unless print jobs are sent within about 2 minutes of the last one. If I don't press the OK button, it will eventually print but during the waiting period, I don't know if it will or will not print - and sometimes it totally forgets about the print job.
If the machine is connected with a network cable you can enter the settings in the web interface.Simply just type the IP address of the printer in the web browser and it will connect to the printer. Then change the setting and save to the printer.Hope this will help.
That didn't help. I've been all over these settings and there is nothing that gives me a choice of how long before it will go into sleep mode. IF you know where those settings are, please let me know! Dave
I'm still looking for an answer on this issue . . . EVERY time we want to print, we have to go to the printer and press the OK button to wake it up. It never did this previously but is a royal pain. I expect a network printer to always be available when a print job is sent to it and that the printer will wake up on it's own. I have not seen any settings where I can change this. PLEASE HELP!!!! Dave
Hi, I managed to solve this issue as follows: Use the software Samsung "Easy Printer Manager", once the window opens click on the top on the icon "Switch to Advanced Mode". In advanced mode click on the tab "System", under heading "General" you can change sevral timings like Power Save etc (I changed Power Save to 10 minutes and now the printer stays on for 10 minutes before going into StandBy mode).
I had same problem on M2835DW - though on easy print manager I can't change settings and have to go through link to Sync Thru Web Service, where I could see settings but I could not work out how to change them.
I found the following info off Amazon on how to change the settings - and whilst you can change the setting for sleep time, the important one is to set the wake up event to "on" as by default it is off. Once I'd done that and applied the settings, my printer works fine - have just left it overnight, then printed in morning and it woke up straight away and printed. (I'm sure it used to do this when first purchased and something changed a few months ago):-
From Amazon -
1) Open the "Samsung Easy Printer Manager"
I have run into something like this previously. A few things to try:
1) use a different (older?) version of adobe reader
2) install another PDF reader (eg pdf exchange viewer)
3) install a PDF printer (eg. pdfcreator), print to that to create a new PDF file, and then try to print that from adobe reader
Next, I kept having all sorts of problems with MS Office, so that too went into the bit bucket.
I now use Open Office exclusively, for myself, and I install that for my customers who are having some kind of a problem with MS Office.
Hi yes my printer wont print from office word not even the latest one so uninstalled it when back to open office and bingo prints as good as gold, when word it kept ending me to one note and one drive when tried from there sent me back to word.
So yes use open office a great free program
Hello The Doctor! I read your reply (and the others) and I find myself in exactly the same boat regarding Foxit en Open Office. I use LibreOffice. The less Microsuck is on my system, the better. It is bad enough having to run with this OS for specific software that is not available on Ubuntu.
However, I have the same problem with a Samsung ML-2580N which I got for free. It prints the Writer (similar to Word) documents without a hitch, but refuses pdf documents. Even reprinting them vir Foxit into another pdf, it still refuses.
This is extremely frustrating, since many documents obviousl come in via pdf and while I could try to convert them to another format, it consumes unnecessary time. Hopefully somone here has another solution I could try.
When you are talking about a specific PDF, you should realize that it may be protected, and one of the various forms of protection is that the recipient may allowed to read it, but he is not allowed to print it. There is a tutorial from Adobe explaining the intricacies of this at How to Protect PDF Documents. You might treat that as homework, as it is well worth remembering.
Apart from that, check to see that the file association is with the correct program, and check to see if the relevant printer is the default. If the computer has both Adobe Reader and either Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat DC installed, I think Adobe will insist that Acrobat must take precedence over the lowly Reader.
This detail must have been in another thread, but someone had to have something for the tax department, and The Taxman is surely the poster child for documents, especially PDFs, that he does not want tampered with. You mess with those at your peril. Adobe could advertise or demonstrate PDF protection using tax documents more effectively than with any other example.
I changed wifi service providers and now my macbook pro won't connect to my samsung wireless printer. The printer is properly connected to the network as others in the house can print. I was able to print prior to changing the wifi settings on the printer.
It is working now. I deleted the printer & downloaded new software for it several times. Finally in desperation I unplugged the printer & plugged it back in. Voila! My mac found it, loaded it, & I am printing again.
2. Are you running Snow Leopard or Leopard. If its Snow Leopard most likely the Manufacture in this case Samsung and Apple haven't released the fixed version for it. I'm running snow leopard and my Canon Pixma wasn't working for about a week wireless because of this.
I like to state every one here, the manufacture like Samsung/HP will show there interest on the customer till the warranty of the printer/product and they will be waiting to clear it out from the warranty period, later on they feel like moved out that product risk.
If we reach them and by mistake if we are out of the warranty means finish(the end for product) they will not priorities us and also will not care on resolving the issue, the way they divert us is like wipe out.

When I use the suld repository, I am able to do a test print page that tells me "if you can read this, you are using the wrong driver for your printer" If I try to print, the printer wakes up, the document shows in the print queue for a moment, then disappears and says the print job was completed, though nothing has happened.
Then follow the instructions at I used Ubuntu software manager. In Ubuntu you go to the software center, then from the top menu, Edit>software sources>other sources>add volume. Here you add " deb debian extra "Then download and save the key file, found at the same index link above. To import the key file to ubuntu software center, go to the software center then Edit>software sources>authentification>import key fileThe packages now should appear in your software center (refresh maybe needed) Access them by clicking the down arrow next to the box icon that says all software on the top left. Click on Bchemnet.

HP Inc. said Monday that it is the largest print acquisition in the company's history and will help it go from traditional copiers to multifunction printers. HP also said the deal will strengthen its position in laser printing, which it established with Canon.
