Checkpoint Charlie Information - List of Attempted Escapes???

In 1988 I was going into East Berlin thru Checkpoint Charlie. Upon
exiting the passport control, I heard a loud noise and looked to see a
motorcyclist squeezing thru a gate and then racing thru the
checkpoint!

He went around a corner and then we heard a loud noise. I never did
find out who it was, or what happened.
There must be some archive in Germany that has this information.
