Hi All,

I wonder how many Sudoku people are left on the list.  Mary and I are back to fostering Labradors again and planning a cruise.  We have been to Alaska before, looks like we are headed there again.

I work a small sudoku or two most every day.  I also have some printed out 9 by 9 puzzles I carry with me when going to a doctor appointment or other activity that leads to a lot of waiting around.

If anyone is in the need of a puzzle or six let me know, I can still post most anything.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hey Aaron,
I’m not very active on the list, but I do enjoy tackling my fav 9x9 extreme X on a daily basis.  You got me going on the path.   very appreciative of the opportunity you provided for me to learn.
For me, I am an Canadian snowbird spending my
winters in Puerto Vallarta.  Just glad my Mac air with masses of extreme x travel well.
Thanks again for all the sudoku knowledge you’ve shared.
ps. I grew up in Vancouver, BC - hope you can visit there on a sunny day!

Had my nose in too many spy thrillers and police procedurals, but good to know you’re still out there.

I'm still doing evil X puzzles. Most are from my own program while a few are from the monster file of x puzzles with 12 clues. Also I work on an extreme puzzle now and then and manage some of them.

Still doing 7 little words daily.

More dogs! What fun. As for Alaska, enjoy.

Hey Aaron and All,
I'm still here, doing 6x6, 8x8, and 9x9 things between mediums and
hards. I still love the X puzzles best. I want to graduate to evils,
but think the matrix is a necessary, but unfortunate, PITA!!! I'm
digging through my Sudoku List archives and working stuff from there.

Is there anyone on list in the know re Excel? I need a way to
doublecheck my matrix/pencil mark list, and I think writing formulas
would be the way to go. But haven't a clue re how to do it.

Glad to see our band of puzzlers is still here.

Hug and spoil your dogs for me, and have fun on your trip to Alaska.

More Later,
Dani

So I miss the days when Aaron sent a stack of puzzles on a regular basis. Weekly, maybe? I would really love some new ones. And I am like Dani, I like the ex's, the sixes, the eights, the nine by nines, the medium to hard ...

I never got my VarioUltra 20 working right on sudokus.  Fortunately, I still have the BrailleEdge.  I take it off my Mac every once in a while and do puzzles again.  I’m starting to miss them, so I think I will have to start back up again.

Still doing the 7 little words.  Though I had to look at most of the clues for one this morning, one that wasn’t really all that difficult.  I was just not in a seven words frame of mind.

Rosemarie:

What program are you using and what version of Windows? I don't think we can use either of our programs here anymore.

The ones with twelve clues, what size are they? I don't like 12 x 12. Too much real estate, more of a headache than fun for me.

The program is Web Sudoku Deluxe, Version 1.2.2. I've had it for around six years. It came from the web sudoku web site where we used to download puzzles. I'm glad I picked it up as the site won't work for me any more - in fact, it hasn't worked in several years.

I'm using Windows 7, and while it works, it's getting to the point where it needs an upgrade as does Jaws. Big sigh.

The 12 clue puzzles are 9 by 9 X. Some turn out to be easy, some, maybe a third, are totally off the wall horrible with only a few moves, the rest are usually doable with varying degrees of difficulty.

As for the 12 by 12 puzzles, they are exhausting because of their size, right, too much territory, and larger puzzles are not doable on my board, which is just as well.

If you have to upgrade to Win10, WSD will still work, at least the 9x9
puzzle-getting.

HTH,
Dani, who has to use Win10, but hates it

Good to know that the puzzle making program will still work when I eventually upgrade. Why do you hate windows 10? Is it that different with commands or what?

Been off line since the 3rd. Big sigh. Anyway, up and running again late last night and just getting into Grand Central this morning. Don't plan to do it all today, just starting with the oldest stuff and working forward slowly.

I didn't upgrade from 7 to 8 to 10, so there's a steeper learning
curve for me. They reorganized stuff to make it easier to use, and
probably to be more visually appealing, so nothing is familiar or
intuitive. I'm a creature of habit, and go in to change with some
kicking and screaming. But with this change, that's an understatement
to say the least.

There are also updates that Microsoft says they're doing that aren't
happening, so that adds more silliness to the situation.

Hang on to Win7 for as long as you can.

More Later,
Dani

P.S. If you have an iPhone, get hold of that SeeingAI app. It's helped
me find out what's going on re the Microsoft updates e.g., that an
update is happening.

Hello List,

I am just going through my old emails at the beginning of another new year, and come across this email. So thought I would write and wish everyone a happy new year although a little late. I still do at least one email a day and sometimes two or three.

Regards

Chris P ‘England’

Hi Chris,

Happy New Year to you, too, and to anyone else who’s still on this list. :)

I don’t do as much sudoku as I used to, though I don’t really know why.  Perhaps your email will inspire me to start up again.
Cheers,
Donna,  US
