Fwd: Why I Created This Group

Asalaam alaikum (Peace be upon you)

If you have just joined or are looking to join, I figured this would
be a nice email to read. This group just started up May 3 2012.

I am guessing it would be nice to know a little about me. :)

Well, I am 21 years old and I am taking 4 classes online all relating
to Islam. I have been blind since birth.
Growing up I was raised by my Grandma and she was an Unitarian. I
never really had a religion, just following the flow of society.

Then in 2007 I went on a trip to Spain and Portugal and we had one day
in Morocco. That was where I first got a picture of Islam.

After coming back to the States I researched it because it was very
interesting to me. Why did some women cover there faces? Why did some
men wear those long white robes? I was curious and looked all over the
net. Then in 2008 December, I converted to Islam alhumdulillah (God be
praised)

Once a muslim I learned the basics of Islam and then started to try
and get any braille material since I have read braille all my life and
find it better sometimes to read braille.

However, everything was in print. Even things I wanted to order,
print, print, print!!!!!!
I was frustrated at first. But I read online things and such, but when
you don't have internet it gets hard.

So I decided to start up this group for blind muslims or blind people
wanting to learn about Islam or meet other blind persons.
I know how hard it is to get materials in alternate formats.
In this group I would like blind persons to communicate, meet, chat,
ask questions.
I also offer to have any thing you want in braille be brailled. I know
how hard it is so I want to make it easier for others.
Any papers, books, etc you want brailled you can ask for and inshALLAH
I will help to the best of my ability.
