Well, it is finally posted. I still have a chapter or two to finish and post,
but for those who are interested, Murder Most Foul can now be read almost in its
entirety starting here:
http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=1805&chapter=1

I've been working on this story for some years, and at last had the motivation
to finish it. It puts the West Memphis Three case into Middle Earth, in Gondor
in the province of Anórien, the one province that lies north of the capital of
Minas Tirith and on the southeastern borders of Rohan. It is compressed a good
deal--the murders occur during the summer before Frodo leaves Bag End and the
Shire to travel east and south to Mordor and Gondor, and as the newly crowned
monarch of Gondor it falls to Aragorn, now Aragorn Elessar Envinyatar Telcontar,
to either investigate the crime or to merely sign the death warrant for Danárion
of Destrier and the orders transferring his alleged accomplices Carenthor and
Garestil from the prison where they've been held since their trial to the
quarries where they will be expected to spend the rest of their lives, which are
likely to be both short and miserable.

I will warn you of this--this is a work of fiction. No matter how many details
from the real case I've managed to work into this story, still the characters
are not intended to be actual depictions of the real people involved in the West
Memphis Three case. And if anyone finds himself or herself insulted by what you
might think of what I wrote or how I wrote it or the characters I've built, I
apologize in advance.

In this story, I've not attempted to truly "solve" the real case, for the one I
depict as the real murderer within the tale doesn't exist in our world. This is
intended to show how the prejudices that existed so strongly in the Mid-South
region of the United States might well have led to the decision to follow
through on the persecution of the one named at the site of the discovery of the
bodies as the probable perpetrator of this horrible crime.

So, if you like The Lord of the Rings or fictionalized versions of real
crime stories, do give it a look. All that is finished to date is posted on
this archive, and it is being posted, a chapter a day, at the other archives I
post at: Stories of Arda, FanFiction.net, the Henneth Annun Story Archive, and
TolkienFanFiction.

Thanks in advance for your patience and I hope your comments on what I've
written.
