Hi all,  How is everyone keeping?  What is going on  in your gardens  just now? Here  where I live now I  have a garden to help to look after which is  40 foot  by  100 feet,  it is all divided  up in to smaller plots  and cannot wait to get a vegetable  plot going,  lots of work to do the gardens haven't been looked after for years,  although they only laid the gardener  off in May this year,  I suppose  it was because he didn't do much if any thing.  Peter Skivington   is  agood gardener  very helpful,  hopefully between him myself and one other person we can get these gardens looking good again. I think there is also a lot of wasted  space  here in the garden so I am going to talk to the right people and see what we can do.  Does anyone know of a good  place  either on the internet  where I can get some all the year around herbs  plants? I need to get things moving now start making a difference around here.   Take care all and I am pleased to be back with you all.  Take care  look forward to your messages.

Hi Andy, oh wow, this is great news, so glad you've decided to get your greenfingers out to help with your own little plot.  Peter Skivington is on this group too, so he may step in and offer some words of wisdom for you too.

Wilkinsons sell some cheap things, if you like letuice they are easy to grow and will soon fill your place and at the same time will come in very handy.  I don't know much about herbs, so if you can tell me then that would be nice?

We have a pot of chives in our greenhouse, but we haven't picked them and they flowered! I never knew chives could do that?  So will these flowers turn into seeds?  If so, maybe I could send you some in an envelope.

We have been talking about seed swapping on the group, but it looks like that will have to be within our own countries.

Speak soon, Christine.

I have just noticed on the organic catalogue web site that they sell herb seeds, and I suspect herb plants as well.  Give them a try at www.organiccatalogue.com

Hope this helps.

Hello All, especially Andrew, Norman and Christine

I have been trying to copy the book from my hard drive to a CD, but think I do not have CD burning software, so can not do that.  However, I know I can download onto a SD or compact flash card, so if anyone would like a copy then please let me know and give me your home address (Off list please), and I am sure we can come to an arrangement.

I am not sure exactly how to upload onto Send Space Norman, but if this is easy please let me know and this may be another easy option and I can then send the link privately to those who want it.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

As far as I understand it you need a Max Account with Sendspace.  I do have one but I am not sure how to upload.

I usually use mine for downloading large books etc.  As far as I know the maximum size for a file is 300 meg.

Can you download the files you refer too with a car reader?

Hi Mark,  I wouldn't get a sendspace account unless  you do a lot of up loading of files.  the cost when I got mine at the beginning of this year was  £89 for 12 months,  I can up load  1 gig  files  with that.  but to be honest  I wouldn't  do it again.   Do you use windows media?  if you use version  11,  you can burn cd from that. But if you have no other way of sending the file  then don't worry about me,  I found a lot of info  on the  web.  Thanks all the same.  Andy

Hi Mark,  I did tell you  in the last email,  that if you have this account  with sendspace,  you can upload  up to 1 gig,  size files,  I know this as I do have the  Max account  with sendspace. but if you want to pay out that  sort of money  and hardly  use it  then it is a waist. £89  I could find more  things to spend that  on.

Mark, you didn't say if your greenhouse is heated, if not if you are actually growing plants or just overwintering such as geraniumsin whicjh case light doesn't matter, for example my geraniums in my conservatory had been forgotten overwinter so received no waterat all but in early spring they sprouted and I took cuttings, that are all doing well.  Now if you intend to grow on perhaps letuce, then they would require all possible lightso you must take down that netting.  hope this may be of some help.

HI Roy

The greenhouse is not heated, as we are on an allotment site with no electricity supply, so not really possible to heat apart from using bottled gas to fire up the heaters.

I will be growing and in fact have some  iceberg lettuces  in there at the moment, so think I will probably remove at least half of the shade netting.

Thanks
