Greeting all,

In case anybody hasn't noticed I've upgraded MOSAIC's SourceForge site
to include new Hosted Apps including creating a new homepage and logo,
transferring the old manual to media wiki, adding a test render
gallery, much nicer phpbb fourms and a wordpress developer blog.
Access to all can be found from the homepage here http://ribmosaic.sourceforge.net
or through SourceForge here http://sourceforge.net/projects/ribmosaic/

I've just recently released a test animation for a fisheye effect on
the blog here http://sourceforge.net/apps/wordpress/ribmosaic/
Ted not sure if your going to be doing any spider cam shots but this
may be an interesting place to start if you do ;)

Also the developer blog is just to test small projects and do micro
blogging so I'm more likely to talk about what I'm working on. This is
in no way meant to distract from this blog as I view this as a much
more serious and public channel. I will continue to post public
announcements and detailed tutorials here. If anybody sees anything on
my blog they think should be here also please let me know and I'll be
happy copy them here ;)

Cheers,
Eric Back (WHiTeRaBBiT)

WICKED! I positively LOVE the new banner, nice play off of the two
main technologies we are using! Oh and that new fisheye lens test is
spectacular, you should post it on the blog. I was actually wondering
about cameras and lenses myself recently, not for anything in
particular really but that is one area of Renderman I know I have not
touched at all. Nice job!

Thanks, I was really pleased with how the new logo came out :) The
last one I quickly put together in about 20 mins to have something for
the Wiki but this one I spent several days working on.
As far as the test goes not sure about spectacular but thanks, since
its really nothing but a rotation in a static cube map it was really
hard keeping it feeling dimensional. Any kind of pan or zoom only
emphasized its "flatness" but keeping the FOV fixed during rotation
until the lensing pulls around helped (still "feels" a little flat to
me though). Anyway while playing with the math in this shader I
noticed its possible to essentially create multiple spherical
distortions like a bugs eye but didn't pursue those avenues (they were
accidents while I was trying to figure out how to add a rotational
vector). I'll post this developer blog on the BlenderToRenderMan blog
per your request tonight ;)
