It is that time of year again for submissions to Siggraph and to be
honest I for some reason had not remembered that submissions have a
very early deadline, months in advance to the actual event. So with
that in mind it seems that if we are to complete Project Widow it will
need to be very very soon. Either before April 10 or May 6, depending
on what we have gotten done. I am shooting for May 6 simply because
there is a good chance that Widow will not be %100 rendered at that
time and according to the guidelines it would fit in perfectly.

So maybe by this time we can get a substantial amount done and if not
we can really form some sort of trailer to showcase what we have done.

Either way I am trying to make sure that our efforts in all areas of
what we all do will have a much bigger presence at this years Siggraph
after the somewhat lack luster response last year. We shall see what
happens!

Cheers!

Just wondering, how is it going with Project Widow?

What is needed to get it finished?

Sorry for the slow response :(

Well things are picking up, right now I am tackling the linked sets
for individual scenes and shots so that animation can fully begin. So
far all the modeling is done, except for an object or two but those
can added in later (thanks to linking). The first preview animation
has been started, for the very first shot in the short. So in all only
animation needs to start then once a few of those are considered
"final" then the shading and lighting process can start and then send
it off to the renderfarm shot by shot.

So in all it is only maybe %50 done now so it may be some time before
it is fully finished but at least we are chipping away at this,
considering we are delving in areas that have never been fully tested
before. A lot of technical issues, some frustrating things, testing
and R+D has been done, now it is time for the production to get in
full gear. At least now we have a fully functional SVN server so we
dont have to worry much about disk space like we have in the past with
Dropbox.

Wanna join??? We could use more people :)

Hi Ted,

Yeah I'm up for joining now. Not sure how many hours a week I can do initially but I'll see how it goes.

I've only animated in maya and Lightwave so will need too get up to speed with animating in Blender.

How do I get started? Will you send me an SVN login etc?

Cheers,
