My name is José Miguel Cabeza. I am Professor of Education in Computer Science and work at the Planetarium Children's Museum of Caracas - Venezuela. I started as a guide of the Museum in 1992. A year later, due to the construction and inauguration of the Museum Planetarium, I became the guide of the Planetarium. I have been working there since the number 1 screening for the visiting public and I am fascinated by how important a Planetarium can be as an educational tool. In 2003 I became the person in charge of the Planetarium and since then I have created the productions exposed to the visitors.
When the Planetarium was inaugurated, it did so with a Digistar-1 computerized system. In 2006 it is updated to a Digistar-2 and is the system that is currently being used.
After 24 years of work in the Planetarium, I wish to be able to elaborate my own audiovisual contents, taking advantage of the educational experience acquired over the years. Elaboration of texts for educational purposes. I have knowledge with 3DMax, audio editing, video; among others. Soon I will be working with Blender.
But I have a small problem. In my country there are only four (04) planetaries, of which only three (03) are working. Of those three (03) the only modern and digital is the Planetarium where I work. And the technology of the Planetarium is ancient. Although your projector is Fisheye, it uses closed software. In other words, it only works with that projection system and if I create a program with Blender, I can not use it with that projector. I could only try it in a Planetarium that allows videos in FulDome.
At the moment I do not have any video created in FullDome.
How to test a video that you develop? Could you send it to someone in the group?
I have many questions about the technical part of the program, but I think I could share and learn from this group.
Any suggestion is welcome!
Thanks for taking the time and getting to the end of these lines.
Best regards to all!
