Great tool, even better explanation:

Anyway, is any of you using Cycles for productions already? Or are most still dealing with the hardware limitations?

I only got to know of cycles recently during my class taught by weelian. Tried on my laptop running nvidia optimus. But somehow something happened, my laptop is on the way to acer support site.

Acer Laptops with Nvidia GFX chipsets seem to be quite problematic. My friend's Nvidia chip based Acer overheats and hangs when he plays 3D graphics intensive games on it.

I think you are better off using a desktop with a dedicated Nvidia Graphics card.

Since a few days I have a faster pc at work with a graphic card supporting CUDA 3.0. Very cool & usable in small productions.

For (slightly) stylized work still depending much on BI

Thanks for the link.

Am currently teaching Blender/cycles as an alternative for rendering and animating product design concepts.

The school's Quadro 4000 makes rendering very fast when enabling Gpu compute.

I’m going to try and make use of the cycles for my school assignment.   Trying out a simple Megaman animation.   Completed the basic model.

Hope my comp does not crash.
