As things are getting busy
for me I have less time to work on this project. I'm confident that it
is evolving into something worthwhile.
However, on my Net travels I'm stumbling across a lot of interesting
resources which I think would be great for the site, so the need to
find an
easy place to chuck this stuff is becoming more imperative every day.
The concept of having to log on to jotspot, turn editing on, paste the
website name & link & comments as another bullet point is not
very
appealing - it's time
consuming and messy.
I don't think del.icio.us is the best idea, because we will end up
working on parallel resources - duplicating entries, creating our own
categories etc. If we were going to do that then I'd rather just put stuff I find in an excel
spreadsheet and collate
it all later.
If we are to use something like del.icio.us I think we need one account we can
work on collaboratively, although I understand the hassle of having two
accounts on one computer.
What about the alternatives such as http://www.spurl.net/discover/ or
http://www.simpy.com? Or
maybe there is some
form of online database we could use and transfer the data across when
the site is developed.
I'm not big on the
idea of syndicating the links for del.icio.us (or whatever) permanently
on the site either (ultimately
I'm still envisioning
some sort of searchable database for resources)
but it could be a useful temporary measure, especially if it has the
flexibility to continue working out categories as we go, and as long as
it's not a hassle to transfer the data to whatever platform is settled
on.

btw -
At the time of writing this del.icio.us was down. :-(
