hiI have a vocopro karaoke machine and I use my iphone to play simple mp3 songs and I can do karaoke parties. Has anyone used smule on Iphone to connect to the speaker, for a live performance rather than recording? IF so can you pls share your set up?

the normal way I connect is using the input to my phone. However when I open and connect using smule app, the output is extremely less. It somehow identifies it as a phone clal speaker, not the one that comes for media, so the output is very very less. I use Iphone 7plus

this is how the set up is for all other MP3 music that plays from the phone, and it works the same as you said. However, the music that comes out from smule in this set up through the same set up is vry ba, very low music,.

the one I got for Iphone 7 plus is a different type of cable, lightning connector without the 3.5mm connector. the smule app requires that the mic also be turned on. The cable to amp contains only 2 rings, not 3. and since Smule wants the Mic also enabled, the signals are not going properly/distored? May be I get a 3ring connector and connect that to amp? I have Mic connected to the vocopro unit for singing.

I use IRIG PRE and amp + speaker to the output of IRIG PRE, it works great for smule. i have not used it for big parties though i use it at home with some friends. i also own iphone 7+ and i connect IRIG PRE using 3.5 jack adapter provided by apple.

Life was not meant to be easy. I wasted 15 months trying to get Smule to work on my Samsung 7. There was this huge lag and I kept changing the lag timefor each recording until it finally clicked one day that the lag time is a hardware issue with Samsung phones and had to be a constant. Finally I set the lag time at -275Mseconds for all recordings. That done I wanted to use head phones and a condenser microphone. Just could not get it to work and Smule said they do not support external microphones. Period. In the end I bit the bullet and took advice from friends in this very forum and bought myself a New iPad..

Yes I have tried . The recording quality is good and no latency at all . However, while recording with Airpods, I can hear only the tracks and I can not hear my own vocals through the Airpod's speakers . Hence , it gets difficult to match the vocal pitch with the track sometimes. Can any one throw some more light on this subject ?

As I have tried almost 100's of headphones in the last 5 years I have been using for Smule, I have been waiting for a bluetooth device that works with Smule. I tried all bluetooth headphones still the problem is Smule records the sorrounding noise higher than our own vocals. I thought Airpods should be the way to go. Looks like it doesn't work well based on Mitesh response above. Thanks Mitesh for sharing your experience, i was about to get one Airdpods. I may have to rethink now.

That being said, you can record a song with Apple Airpods Pro and Smule will allow you to adjust the lag after your recording is done to get an acceptable recording. However, you will not be able to hear your own voice in the headphone while you're singing. In-ear monitoring while singing is just not possible with Bluetooth, due to the laws of physics.

You might sometimes see professional singers use analog wireless microphones (no wires visible from their mic), but that is a different technology. Even that technology has latency (lag), but it is far better than a digital wireless technology like Bluetooth. The reasons for this requires more technical details than you will want to read (and I will want to type?)

Phone calls work because conversation is far more tolerant of millisecond-level latency that an interactive singing session. You might think you're singing in sync with the music you're hearing, but your voice is recorded with a tiny latency (because of Bluetooth propagation time in the air) that is very noticeable in the combined music-voice track (hence why that adjustment is provided by smule post recording). When you're talking to someone, it won't be detectable to them that you responded to them 10 ms after they stop speaking.

I think the latency correction may only be present on Android devices. I still have to use it every once in a while on my phone. However, my iPad doesn't have it. Not sure if anyone has experienced anything different.

The "Vocal Match" slider (marked by a double diamond) is very much still there in the latest smule version for iPhone, and it shows up only after you record with a Bluetooth headphone (AirPods Pro in my case.) -65 msec usually works for me.

In Android, the reason why that slider has always been there is because of a bug, which I believe is caused by a hardware deficiency on many Android headsets that causes the recorded voice to lag the music. iPhone has never had that issue, likely due to hardware assist built into the phone for voice.

I am new to this forum and am happy to finally find that there is a discussion board for smulers I have been in Smule for close to 4 years now and started uploading songs into Songbook since a year back. Currently I have about 100 songs uploaded.

I have noticed that some user-uploaded songs come with notation (when users use those, they will be able to see the notation or pitch bar as they are singing) whereas some don't. My question is how can I get those songs which I have uploaded to have the notation? Thank you in advance!

I see in my iPad the Blue, White and Yellow Coloured horizontal bars scrolling along every time I record which gives me the timing. Don't have a clue about how to turn this on in my Head Phones when Recording though

Today I want to talk about a few things. Common Sing issues we are experiencing and features we are all waiting for.

There were many questions about the Android experience towards iOS and yes, iOS wins.

Some users wanted to know how they can enable IEM, how to hide layers in a group song, how to use flags, etc. Yup, android does not have that. YET. So, for anyone that switched from iOS to Android will get an unpleasant surprise. Why is that?

Because the app was built for iOS devices, of course, they have all of the features 1st and android users get them months or even years later.

I remember reading an article at smule blog 2015 when they announced IEM coming soon for Android devices. Yay!

Now, recently Smule provided new cool filters for iOS users. I have these filters on a testing version and they are the same as iOS, but for the regular Android version of Smule, we are still waiting. Not even all iPhone users have them so maybe we will have to wait a little longer.

But I really like this new look iPhone users have had for months now. We can now finally customize our profiles as well! If you have not, hurry and update your sing app. You will be pleasantly surprised. The new version is 5.0.9.

I was researching and even I had the same problem at the beginning so I found a cure for this problem.Instead of chosing a picture from your gallery or any other document, pick your picture from recent folder. Not sure why but for some reason when I want to upload a picture from the tab galery, smule just closes editing. So recent photos work for me and some other users.

Also there is a melody guide on iOS Sing! which is pretty helpful for learning a new song in a short time. But definitely not recommended while opening OC and such because that guide melody will sometimes stay on the track.

There is an option on iOS where you can hide your layer in a group song you joined but only if it is not opened by you. Just go to settings of the song, choose edit-hide then join again but without singing and all your layers are gone.

Overall, iOS have more options than Android. If you really want to take time and commit to this app then iOS may be the right choice for you after all. But, not in my case. I am on Android and using Smule for 3 years and I am not sure if I will get used to an iPhone Sing!

This definitive guide explores ideal headphones pairing ergonomic comfort, dynamic audio reproduction, and recording-focused features benefitting Smule app enthusiasts. Learn how active noise cancellation, proper acoustic tuning, battery life, and wireless convenience combine to isolate vocals cleanly allowing creative performances to shine. Then peruse tailored over-ear, on-ear and in-ear Smule headphone recommendations showcasing diverse brands balancing price, quality and specialty use-cases - choosing a favorite based on your budget and needs.

Smule is the wildly popular social karaoke app that lets users sing and perform with instruments alongside friends or strangers around the world. With fun features like duets, autotune, and video filters, Smule encourages musical experimentation and those viral sing-along moments.

Beyond vocal priority, instrument reproduction quality enables you to intimately hear backing tracks. Whether piano ballads or uptempo country jams, balanced frequency reproduction adds polish. Finally, microphone clarity ensures your expressions translate accurately on the other end.

While audio performance is paramount, the ergonomic experience profoundly impacts your Smule sessions. Since creative endeavors on Smule can turn into multi-hour marathons, wearing headphones comfortably for extended periods is crucial.

For in-ear options, secure fit without inner-ear pressure is key. Rotating eartips, winged tips, and multiple size options provide personalized comfort for hours of singing. With long-term wear in mind, breathable fabric earpads also prevent sweat buildup.

Give preference to headphones allowing free head movement without dislodging - limiting micro-adjustments means you can focus on nailing those vocal riffs instead. Similarly, over-ear cups with 90+ degree rotation adapt seamlessly even as you get animated.

Singing through an entire discography on Smule demands headphones that can be worn comfortably for extended periods without distraction. Different headphone designs involve key tradeoffs when it comes to ergonomics and long-term wearability during marathon singalong sessions.
