At 6:55am the morning after the Cup win and Jack and Bitty's on-ice kiss, Marty and Thirdy wait with George for Jack to show up for the morning press conference. Marty chirps George about not getting any sleep the night before and is surprised that Tom has her running PR. Marty suggests that Jack can just say nothing about the kiss and focus on the game instead, but Thirdy points out that Jack is still gonna get pummeled with questions about it by the reporters. Marty thinks that maybe Jack shouldn't have to take part in that case, but Thirdy knows that as the MVP who got the game winning goal, Jack has to be up there, before agreeing with Marty and asking George if she's sure that she wants Jack to talk now.[16]
After Jack finally shows up, Marty and Thirdy are shocked by the number of reporters present which is enough to make Marty nervous. Marty is annoyed by how fast the reporters jump on Jack with questions during the presser and, along with Tater and Thirdy, has Jack's back when the questions get to be too much for him, helping to deflect the reporters' attention away from Jack and Bitty's kiss.[17]
As news of a huge bust-up during filming for the new series in Magaluf reached UK shores, the fifth episode of Geordie Shore: Big Birthday Battle came packed full with its own drama thanks to a kiss that shocked everyone.
After a commercial break, Marty introduced Connie "The first time I heard her, I fell in love with her. The first time I saw her, I fell in love with her. George Jones calls her his favorite country singer. Eddie Stubbs calls her the 'Rolls Royce' of country singers. I call her 'My Baby'. How about a hand for the great Connie Smith." After a quick kiss, Marty says, "So honored to have you." Connie said, "I'm honored to be here." Marty said, "Let's do this every week and then go home together. What do you think." "Sounds good to me," says Connie. " Tell me about this fella you brought with your steel guitar today," Marty asks. Connie says, "I'm so honored to have the guy that was actually responsible for creating the Connie Smith sound -- Mr. Weldon Myric. Played on millions of records for me and others. Weldon, would you do this honor for me?" Marty and His Fabulous Superlatives accompanied Connie on "Once A Day."
Marty McFly:
Wait, you don't understand. If you don't play there's no music. If there's no music they don't dance. If they don't dance they don't kiss and fall in love and I'm history.
She rushes outside to the garden to confront a distraught Charlotte, telling her that she'll "never, ever, EVER" forgive her for this gross transgression of friendship, even though the kiss was literally five seconds long if that.
Kennedy does not dispute these sequence of events, but asserts a very different reason for his termination. He believes that he was terminated because he did not return the affections of Ormsby. In support of his belief, Kennedy recounts a remark made in the fall of 1992 by Ormsby to a friend in Kennedy's presence, "If you can't marry them, hire them." Kennedy also cites numerous instances where Ormsby greeted him with a "hug and a kiss on the cheek," handwritten thank-you notes where Ormsby told Kennedy, "having you here is the best thing to happen to me in many years," and "you are such a special person to me," the same thank-you cards signed "Love, Martie," or "Much love, Martie," and Ormsby's jealousy when he was talking to other female associates. Finally, Kennedy claims that during his termination meeting, Ormsby told Kennedy that she was "in love him."
