But first, what is the definition of an asset and what does it mean as an asset? Lansweeper said: On your local networks, any device scanned by Lansweeper is considered an asset. This can be a Linux, UNIX, Mac or Windows computer, VMware server or any other network device (printer, switch, firewall, etc.). Monitors are NOT counted towards the asset limit. In your cloud environments, any resource scanned by Lansweeper is considered an asset. This can be a virtual machine, resource group, VPC, etc. Any assets you create manually also counts towards your asset limit. (Source: lansweeper.com)

As users discover all the computers and devices on their network, Lansweeper permits them to perform common administrative tasks. PROS: As a long-time user of Lansweeper, I must say that you should not underestimate this product's capability. What amazes me is its ability to track all the valuable information that concerns all our computers, printers, software, and other stuff. The system is always being updated to ensure that we can monitor all existing assets seamlessly. Should there be any significant issues, we don't have to worry anymore because their helpdesk team is just one call or ticket away. This tool is considered part of my company investment in the long run because it gives me essential reports that I would like to see weekly. The product's annual price is not considered cheap. Still, considering the things that it can do for the company, I would say it's pretty reasonable. As long as employees love using LANSweeper, then we are here to stay as clients.
I found this blog post because a client of mine wanted to migrate away from the (now annual) cert renewal with our university CA to something that could be automated, so naturally I turned to letsencrypt. Just a heads up for any users who have lansweeper set up on windows server using the full IIS system, rather than IIS express, you can use the github project win-acme, and if port 80 is open, the http-01 verification method, to do this as well. We were already using IIS, so win-acme was a very easy and straightforward method.
