Hi all! Just wondering after 3 years of Mojo open source, what is the current state of the framework? Has there been any progress towards version 2.0?

I have plans to totally decouple Mojo from Dojo and move towards Jquery next year. Has anyone done this already with any success?

Thanks!

Hi Robert,

I believe Jaime has done this already: https://github.com/jbueza/Mojo

Cheers!

Hey Robert,

It isn't backwards compatible though -- controllers are written in a completely different way. Are you planning on converting existing web applications over? or are you looking at building new web apps with mojo?

Cheers,
Jaime

I'm planning on converting existing web apps. The only updates I want to make to controllers is replacing any dojo call with a mojo call to a helper util that calls a Jquery function or just convert directly to Jquery (haven't decided). I know the bulk of the work is going to be in the mojo.js.

I'm guessing what you have done already requires extensive changes to all the controllers? If so, that's going to be out of the scope for my effort as that would require a substantial amount of effort to change.

Yes, it does require extensive changes to the way developers write controllers.

Are you able to roll out jQuery in parallel with your current Mojo applications? it'll open up the doors to building a proxy layer and then controllers can be slowly moved over from Dojo to Mojo bit by bit...

To answer the big question on Mojo's roadmap, we're all here to answer questions on the existing framework but any further development has ceased for a while now.

Cheers,
Jaime

Absolutely. I was already planning on doing that. I mainly wanted to see what happened with the new mojo code and whether anyone else had switched from dojo to jquery.

You're on the current version of Mojo here: https://github.com/blastradius/Blast-Mojo/tree/master/1.1.4 ?

I'd like to try a few things out and see what I can come up with to allow for an easier transition to jQuery as the foundation.

Cheers,
Jaime

I am but you don’t need to waste your time on this, unless you just REALLY want to do this J
