The Gundam-type Mobile Suit, generally referred to as Gundam, was a classification term for a series of advanced, high performance mobile weapons, meant to be vastly superior to the standard mass-production mobile suits commonly used on the frontlines of battle. The Gundam-type Mobile Suits were regularly equipped with the latest experimental technology developed by Humanity and was known to utilize a highly stylized operating system unique only to the Gundams, further differentiating themselves from other mobile weapons.

Originally created by the Unified Earth Government as a means to advance their mobile suit technology and potentially surpass the Human Federation in their centuries long arms race, the Gundam-type Mobile Suits were the fruit of the Orion Project, a secretive weapons development program co-founded by the Unified Earth Government and a contracted Revolutech Advanced Industries.

Well aware that the technological gap between the Unified Earth Government and the Human Federation had reached a stalemate many centuries ago, Chancellor Francis Leblanc came to the conclusion that in order to break the standstill and achieve victory, the Unified Earth Government must develop mobile weapons that surpassed the Federation's own mobile weapons.

Pseudo Gundam-type Mobile Suits was a term used to describe a series of limited-production mobile suits that did not bear the standard markings to classify itself as a Gundam-type. Pseudo Gundam-types either neared or equally rivaled the combat abilities of a Gundam-type, and in some cases, can surpass it. Mobile Suits specifically created for Ace Pilots and Commanders often fell into this category.

A notable example of the Pseudo Gundam-type was the HFMS-0M5C Command Warden, a high performance mobile suit that was extensively modified to perform on par with Gundam-types. Another was the HFMS-02XHPM Valkyrie, which was specifically developed from the stolen blueprints and scans of the UEG-005X Gundam Providence.

Despite producing a limited number of Gundams, the Unified Earth Government also saw it necessary to develop and deploy several Pseudo Gundam-type Mobile Suits onto the battlefield. The UEG-201EX Sanctuary was a Pseudo Gundam-type specifically created for use by Francis Leblanc and his Honour Guard, the White Talons.

One term not regularly used for an unspecified reason was General Uplink-Network Designed Autonomous Mobile Machine. It was usually inferred that the denomination heavily resembled a previous term used, hence the inconsistent use. However, it was used with a short amount of machines. It was widely under the assumption that this specific connotation used a form of Artificial Intelligence to pilot the mobile suit in question.

An upgraded version of the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II features various improvements to the Strike Freedom's performance, but otherwise retains the same types of weapons and abilities. Externally, it sports larger shoulder armor, new forearm bracers, new hip armor, and additional leg thrusters. The new Volans Hasta railguns have been physically reshaped, and its beam sabers are now stored on racks above the armor similar to the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. The Type II also houses a new panoramic cockpit which can seat an additional co-pilot on the right side.[1][1]

Its Super DRAGOONs have been upgraded with beam shield emitters to allow multiple DRAGOON pods to generate large beam shields, similar to the technology found on the ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam's "Shiranui" Space Pack's mobile beam turrets.[1]

When additional firepower is required, the Strike Freedom Type II's backpack and Super DRAGOONs can be detached, allowing it to combine with the MDE262S Proud Defender support craft to form the ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam.[1]

In C.E 75, the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II was one of three mobile suits, alongside the ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II and the ZGMF-56E2 Impulse Gundam Spec II, upgraded by Erica Simmons within Akatsuki Island in the Orb Union. The upgrades included evaluating a possible new fusion reactor and new equipment, and the suits were intended to bolster Compass' forces in case of an emergency. These upgrades became important when the crew of the LHM-BB03S Millennium need new mobile suits to replace their losses following the Eldore incident and to enact their plan to rescue Lacus Clyne from captivity by Orphee Lam Tao and the Kingdom of Foundation, which was hiding away in the restored space fortress Artemis.[3]

To carry out the rescue, Athrun Zala launched the Strike Freedom Type II to create a diversion. This forced the Black Knight Squad, especially Shura Serpentine in his NOG-M1A1 Shi-ve.A to sortie. This diversion allowed the Compass' strike team, consisting of the AMGS-X18P Cavalier Aifrid and the ZGMF-MM07 Z'Gok, to slip past Artemis' Lightwave Barrier defenses.[3]

The FSWS Project's goal was to build an extra weapon system for the Gundam and to create a special forces team formed entirely of Newtypes. In addition to supporting the Type A (regular Gundam Full Armor), which can be used for both MS and anti-ship combat, the Project also developed this unit specialized on firepower which can be deployed during space fortress attacks and provide the same fire support as battleships to MS teams when battleships are having difficulties. The basic unit has changed to G-3, which is why its codename has become FA-G3. The fixed beam rifle on its right arm has been tripled. In addition to the same 360mm bazooka as the Type A on its back, it's also equipped with a large composite missile launcher: the upper hatch can fire small missiles to form a barrage, while the front can fire large missiles. It is figuratively a mobile arsenal. The specs of this unit are so much more advanced than the rest of its generation that many doubt its real existence, which is still up for debate until this day.

The kit is equipped with a specialized internal structure "SEED Action System" for capturing iconic action poses from the film. Achieve the graceful "leg flexibility" seen in the series by adding a pivot axis to the legs. The model kit includes a lead wire for replicating the anchor's launching state.

The backpack boasts four individually movable wings, allowing for dynamic upper and lower expansion. Each wing also comes with beam effect parts for added flair. The backpack can also be detached for solo display. The silver parts feature a Real Metallic Gloss Injection material, enhancing their metallic luster. Additionally, it comes with effect parts that can be attached to the head for added customization.
