(1) What do you think about the possibility of hacking the controller firmware instead? Since reference firmware is available, that should really help.
(2) What scope is that? The screenshots look nice.
Hi, esar! thanks for sharing your projects. I have a little question about ep9132/42. As I can see in datasheet there is no internal edid eeprom and no pins for external edid eeprom. As I can see ddc bus of hdmi source connected only to hdcp engine. Can you take a look on one of your splitters and say how they handle edid? Does external edid connected to the same ddc pins as a ep9132/42 hdcp engine?
One thing that just occurred to me, given your interesting comment, is that hardware speed bumps serve an important purpose: they probably eliminate hackers who hack DRMs just to show it can be done, prove their hacking skills, stick it to Hollywood, etc. Only professional pirates will bother to manufacture devices or engage in manual processes that result in unauthorized content.
I think the idea is that if AACS allows for a limited amount of consumer copying that it might help disuade people from hacking the system, or at least discourage people from using hacked AACS systems (since some official AACS systems will allow backups and copying content from disks to media players, etc). Apple already proved that people will tolerate DRM as long as they can play the music when and where they want to.
Dilemma- I live in a rural area with only DSL (ughhh) speed is too slow to stream. However I can download some items on mobile devices. Will I be able to stream those downloaded items using this and a lightning to hdmi cord? using this as an in between? I do not want to record on a second device. I just want to be able to mirror on my tv without airplay.
I have 4GB PenCam HD trio camera with AV jack port, mini USB port, mini HDMI output, coming with broken LED display.
If I connect my camera to hdmi monitor via hdmi cable I can watch live video and charging via mini USB is supported.
Hi, I just figured out that the hdmi splitter method doesnt work in laptop, well thats make sense because Windows cant bypass the already built in screen in laps, I suppose its the same case with all-in one desktop computers. Windows detects two screens always because the maik screen is already attached internally and physically to the mainboard, Tried the splitter method in an old desktop with hdmi output, connected another monitor, and Windows detects only one screen via hdmi splitter.
Question is :do you think proctoring software can detect the splitter and the 2 screens even if Windows detects just one?
There is an emerging, though not widely known attack vector for hacking a server: firmware. Last month, researchers at ESET published a report on Lojax, a rootkit (firmware hacking tool) believed to have been developed by Sednit, the notorious cyberespionage group linked to Russian military intelligence.
