EDIUS X supports Sony α1 8K XAVC HS files, Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, EOS R5 RAW and IPB files as well as Apple ProRes RAW files recorded with Panasonic DC-S1H/ATOMOS NINJA V.

The trial version can be used as a Pro or Workgroup trial version. The trial version is limited to 30 days and requires an internet connection. (Note: The regular EDIUS Pro full version only needs to be connected to the internet once every 60 days in order to check the license and to look for updates. The Workgroup version works without Internet connection.)
The trial version contains a watermark in the preview and the output. Apart from that, the trial version is equivalent to the EDIUS full version and can therefore be easily unlocked for an unlimited time by using a valid Pro or Workgroup serial number.

Grass Valley has just released EDIUS X version 10.30 as a free update to all EDIUS X users. The update comes with many valuable new features and support for the latest technology like Windows 11, H.265, RAW and hardware acceleration. I have tried & worked on any NLE software until today (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Avid, Pinnacle, Sony Vegas, Autodesk Smoke, Lightworks) and I always return to Grass Valley Edius. I've been following edius since version 4. It was always more responsive, more efficient, less bugs and faster editing with all media files support.I still haven't tried extensive the Premiere CC and Avid Media Composer 7, till then I am using edius.The only thing I envy is the intergration of After Effects in Adobe Suite programs.
So far for the After Effects intergration I am using the Canopus HQ codec. Importing-exporting through programs, it's a pain in the ass, but the files are relatively small to work with. I am using the AE for titles, tracking objects and sometimes some color correction.

I am a longtime independent producer who cuts most of my own companies' projects. I have used all but the very latest versions of Premiere, Sony Vegas and Avid over the years. Several years ago I spent a day working with Grass Valley Edius and saw it's professional level potential. I am now on the latest, recent release of 8.51. If you haven't actually used this product in the day-to-day life as a video editor, they you are merely speculating!
The concept of Edius died with the absorption of Canopus Thompson.It was my favorite editing program.But - the Japanese ...Nothing personal - just american monsters nailed it down to a general level. :/
Avid, like all the other NLEs, has a terrific partnership with camera companies, with Apple, with companies making I/O devices, and so on. Avid actualy has regular meetings with the engineers at these other companies. We have solid relations with these teams.
If something that one of those companies makes ends up breaking something in Media Composer, even accidentally, we do the best we can to identify those things prior to our own launching of Media Composer. We log the number of bugs we may find, and then begin fixing them. Then, once the fixes are done on our end, there's more work to be done -- we don't just deploy the fix. That's not how it works. We then send our changes to AJA, Blackmagic, etc, so that the engineers at those companies can test our changes with their I/O devices, and their own firmware, and make any changes to their own firmware that essentially makes our changes permanent into their firmware's codewriting.
As you can see, it is a massive process to deploy the fixes. We're working as fast as we can to not only deploy but to work with BM and Apple to be able to officially say which version(s) of the Blackmagic firmware and macOS are qualified with those fixes.
Upgraded to OS 12.6.6 two weeks ago. Experienced less audio drops after some time of playback. But around every 20ies time when I hit play it played without audio at all. Stop, play fixed it. I Installed 2023.3.1 last Friday and started working today. 6 beachball crashes in 2 hours. Mostly after quick working in the timeline or executing "Apple+Z". Going back to 2022.7 now.
Keep us in the loop. The engineers are working tirelessly on this one, and were indeed able to get a lot of work injected into 2023.8. There's a little more to be done, but that'll be in partnership with the 3rd parties themselves.
