Yeah, don't go to fuckin' carnivals.

On the drive home last night there were LE vehicles going apeshit at and towards the shitshow at Palmer Park and Powers. Turns out this is what the kerfuffle was.

I've been looking forward to taking the kids to the carnival.  It's one of those things that we went to when I was a kid and we moved here, and you would ride some rides that made you feel kinda sick, eat funnel cake and cotton candy, and then go home.  Mom and Dad would groan about how much money they were spending, and I would look forward to the day when some dude would win me the stupid stuffed animals that you end up paying 20 bucks for.

"The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says this is the first time in at least 25 years the carnival has been shut down due to a riot type situation. "

This line makes me hopeful that this was an isolated incident.  So yeah, I'm giving it a couple of years and then I'll be going.

I used to love going the carnival (AKA the State Fair) when I was a kid, too. Bumper cars and funnel cake and that, and we had the added bonus of Indian fry bread/Indian tacos, too.

Giant corn dogs.

Good times.

It was mostly cool. There was the bad aspects such as heavy gang presence, but unlike last night, down in Alb. all the cops are already there so it kinda evens out. And it's not riots it's like, isolated stabbings and stuff. Oh and my Mom got peed on once. Not like, directly peed on though, just the splashdown so it was like, Jeez Mom, you didn't get peed on you got peed near... Quit freaking out.

No but seriously, even with the odd issue in 25 years, it's like, you take your kids to the carnival for a few hours during the day and it's no problem. It's only people who were still there at like 9:00PM who were affected by it.
