A couple things jumped out at me: the mention of "the extreme bagginess of their trousers" and "they wore eyeliner."

One, my trousers are extremely baggy! But they're maybe pretty accurate? Awesome!

Two, holy shit I can wear eyeliner? Maybe I'll get some attention from the ladies for once! :D

I had no idea you could make your own temp tattoos, and it is an
awesome solution.

So, I had a sheet printed, and will test that out.

That was hella easy... I feel like that will be an even easier way to
make beer labels.
Since my pattern was so small, I got like 80 of them on a page, and it
still only cost $15. So, if this works, score.

I asked on Facebook, on this group of authenticity nuts, asking about
the makeup. Here is where the thing comes from, and a translation of

So, among the nitpicky, there is discussion of whether the raiders
(the actual Vikings) would have ever wore anything like this, and even
if this is norse at all, given that it was reported in a town that was
a major trading hub.
There is also a side discussion on authentic Viking singing, which I
believe I am well suited to pull off.

Yeah, that seems to be the gist.

Some good info in there, some just snarkiness. It should be noted
that this group of historical reenactors tend to look down on the SCA
in general for not being real enough.
The anti argument is best summed up by this dude:
"There is no mention by Ibn Fadhlan of any eye make up, as above it is
Ibrahim Al-Tartushi who notes this concerning his visit to Hedaby.
This may have been a totally local thing, at a specific period in time
and should not really be applied to the whole of viking period
Scandinavia or its diaspora. We also have no idea that he refers to
kohl eye liner..they may have been poking each other in the eye for
all we really know."

I had looked up Hedaby earlier, and thought it said it was in Denmark,
but people here are saying Germany. Regardless, this is more toward
the southern end of the "Viking" lands (It should be noted that people
object to the term Viking as well) and therefore may not be at all
indicative of what Viking culture should be.

Also, on a fairly unrelated note... Lilly the other day was insisting
that female Vikings should be called Viqueens.
