For the HEIF Image Extensions, the Microsoft Store shows that "This Product is Installed" however the product does not show up in the Windows 10 Apps & features or in the the Programs & Features list. The viewer pane continues to show it needs the HEIF Image Extensions.
Finally Solved: I can now see .HEIC files in the Dopus viewer pane by installing the CopyTrans HEIC for Windows (free for personal use) and following the post-installation instructions.
However, a side-effect I am noticing is that my Windows File Manager no longer seems to show any previews (but since Dopus shows the previews this will be an issue for another day!)

When reading a file from the input element by the FileReader api it works, but my android device also allows sending files and it seems to send heic files anyway which then results in an empty image without any errors in the console. Also the orientation is wrong when getting an image directly from the camera. I just found heavy librarys to implement and i am looking for a smarter solution.
First, in windows the assigned mime type for heic and heif is blank. Not sure when this bug will get fixed, but for now you can't rely on mime type in your scripts or input tag. I needed to add the heic and heif file extensions in the accept parameter of my input tag:
I my use case I'm leveraging heic2any to prepare images for upload. If the image is heic I convert it to png (blob), then pass the result to another utility (image blob reduce) to resize and sharpen before converting to jpg in preparation for upload. In test *.heic ( git demo file) that is a image format commonly use on Apple/MAc that should replace jpeg . In my PC no problem to view this file ( i I have on my PC many pay codec for audio and video) but for the call it new PC i discover that I can't open it using old sofware and free codec .
