InSpirit Island, players will play as 1 of up to 4 spirits on an island which contains 5 different terrain type and a spread of invaders as well as some plucky locals dotted across the map. While the invaders start as a weak group of explorers they quickly and unceasingly multiply and settle across the board before finally ravaging the areas they are in. This is all handled by a deck of cards showing the different terrain types, each turn one card is revealed and added to the invader track pushing the previous cards down into the new areas of building and ravaging. This means that throughout the game you are able to see ahead 3 rounds of the invaders and plan your moves accordingly to limit their impact and give you the opportunity to win the game.

Spirit Bomb Super Saiyan[4] (元げん気き玉だま超スーパーサイヤ人じん, Genki Dama Sūpā Saiya-jin, lit. "Energy Sphere Super Saiyan")[5] is the result of a Super Saiyan becoming empowered via absorbing a Spirit Bomb.

Due to the rageful and thus impure nature of the initial Super Saiyan transformation, the users of the Spirit Bomb run the risk of being unable to gather energy for the technique. Thus, the users must begin gathering energy before transforming in order to then absorb the resulting Spirit Bomb's energy for themselves. Additionally, if the users have attained Super Saiyan Full Power and desensitized themselves to the initial negative effects of Super Saiyan, they are able to create a Spirit Bomb for absorption with far less struggle.

Both known users appear to have attained the form without realizing it, as Goku was unconscious while using it[5], and as such, his actions were not his own. After using the form, his aura increased in power and intensity to the point where Super Android 13 couldn't get close to him, as his fist nearly shattered and incinerated before he could touch Goku. Future Trunks created his Spirit Bomb at first without realizing the energy he was accumulating, and when he did absorb the Spirit Bomb to create the Sword of Hope, the energy left Fusion Zamasu astonished.

In the Dragon Ball Super anime, during the final battle with Fused Zamasu, every human, plant, and animal on Earth unconsciously send their energy to Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks, resulting in a Spirit Bomb appearing above him. Trunks then absorbs it, allowing him to create the Sword of Hope and he slices Fused Zamasu in half.

In Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13!, Goku utilizes this form by transforming into a Super Saiyan while he creates a Spirit Bomb, and then proceeding to absorb the Spirit Bomb into himself because of the impurity in his heart caused by his Super Saiyan form. After Super Android 13 was halted by the other members of the Dragon Team from attacking Goku until it was too late, he attempted to strike Goku through the giant aura of energy, but his hands nearly disintegrated in the process. Goku then struck the android with Final Strike, punching through his chest and obliterating him.

In Dragon Ball Fusions, during the battle with Golden Great Ape Ultra Pinich, the Saiyan Ultra Fusion created by Tekka's Team absorbs a Super Spirit Bomb containing energy from everyone gathered at the Timespace Tournament inside the Timespace Rift, allowing them to become stronger than even God of Destruction Beerus and defeat Golden Great Ape Pinich. Additionally, there is a Special Move called Spirit Bomb Absorption, which allows the user to create and absorb a Spirit Bomb which grants "Spirit" status, causes Melee and Ki Blast power to go up, and also increases defense and speed as well. When used by Super Saiyan Goku (DBZ, Super, and GT), it allows him to become a Spirit Bomb Super Saiyan. However, Spirit Bomb Absorption can be used by characters of other races such as Tekka's EX-Fusions and Earthling Quiche.

In Xenoverse 2, as part of DLC 4, Future Trunks is capable of utilizing this form by transforming into Super Saiyan 2 and then using the Sword of Hope on top of it. A Saiyan Future Warrior can also use this technique by transforming into any Super Saiyan form. As part of the 1.15.00 Update DLC, it can be added to Time Patrol Future Trunks' custom skillet after purchasing it in partner customization. This allows him to utilize it alongside his Future Super Saiyan form.

In Legends, Goku from the end of Super Android 13! is added as a new character. His ultimate attack is him summoning the Spirit Bomb, absorbing it as a Super Saiyan, and then hit Final Strike to whoever he's currently fighting.
