Hello everyone,
I am writing to you to share some information that I have recently learned and to pass along a request. This message is coming to you through the 205 Townsend Action website, but I am speaking on my own behalf (for those of you who don't know me, I am the person who is often seen carrying around school floor plans and complaining that Hyde Park High is too small for BLA.)
While it is not yet official, it appears that our opposition to the proposal to move Boston Latin Academy to the empty Hyde Park High building is a success. This information has come from several independent sources and I am very confident that it is true. While we cannot truly celebrate until an official announcement is made, assurances have been given that an official announcement on this issue will definitely be made no later than during the School Committee meeting scheduled for October 24, 2011.
A request has come to us through Boston Latin Academy to do our best to be patient and to halt further activity on the issue until an official announcement has been made. Since our goal seems to have been achieved, there would not seem to be an immediate need for any more phone calls, emails, letters, or special events. We can give ourselves a well-deserved vacation from the issue and save up all our rhetoric in case we need it again after October 24th. In my opinion, it would serve our interests very well to agree to the request and take a short break from our activism. We can remain poised for action in case there are more delays and broken promises, but doing this "favor" for Court Street seems reasonable and appropriate to me at this time.
Best regards,
Anne
