The stats on college completion rates are staggering. A report from PIC says that 66% of BPS graduates from the class of 2000 who went to college had not earned any college degree 8 years later, and this statistic included exam school students. A new report from the Boston Foundation shows that 72% of BPS graduates from non-exam schools were still without a degree 6 years later.
Our scholarship awards have ranged from $250 to $5000, and we found the most important component is a mentor who becomes a problem-solver for the student when they encounter obstacles.
