The American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Research Foundation is offering 10 summer fellowship awards of $5,000 each to underrepresented minority (URM) students who are interested in digestive disease and nutrition-related research.

Highly qualified students will have the opportunity to work with top investigators in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. The award incudes a stipend to offset housing and travel costs.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates include African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives and Natives of U.S. Pacific Islands who are undergraduates or medical school students at accredited U.S. institutions. Candidates must plan on performing eight to 10 weeks of research related to digestive diseases or nutrition during the summer of 2013, and may not hold similar salary support awards from other agencies.

How to Apply

The application deadline is Feb. 15, 2013.  Students can download an application and complete instructions from the AGA website.

Please direct all questions to the senior research awards manager via telephone at 301-222-4012 or email at awa...@gastro.org.

This award is supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (R25DK096968).
