On my MG2550 cleaned the absorber sponge and everything like it had to be done. But already tried ALL the POWER-RESET/STOP button ideas. Tried it in service mode with Service Tool V: 3400 3600 3800 3900 the printing eeprom is working, but in lights test or what I really want absorber counter reset, the programs allways freezed. On the versions 4200 4718 and 4907 the counter reset is earned by a massive 002 error code, so the printer doesn't understand the command. What should I do more?

I love my MG5220 printer. I actually did buy a new printer (with more features), but I kept this printer. It does some things that the new Canon printer can't do. i.e. auto-detect check size when scanning. Dumb new printer thinks it is auto-detecting, but gets it wrong.

This absolutely does not help. Pressing the Resume Button (STOP) question is it an Off On situation need to press it on off on off on off on off ? Or just twice. Tried it both ways. I do not get a yellow light step 2-3. Just Blue = on. My printer is an MX890. Canon does not support this printer any more. Sad news for HELPDESK Professionals. I was one for the State of Virginia in the Mental Health VITA, for 23 1/2 years . Cannon Help Desk seems like they are not versed in old equipment or just do not give a %#*@ about customer satisfaction for their products. There must be some old-timer who knows how to clean or reset an Ink Absorber in an MX890 if it is a brainless operation. I need the steps spelled out exactly what the power light does on the four clicks please. I have used tissue to absorb the ink all along the printer track to reduce it being almost full. Resetting the counter would be a blessing. Any one can email me. Appreciate it very much. Thank you.

I tried speedytechlive, mine is a canon MX 895, First of all the light is blue unless, I am colour blind. I have tried 20 X , the outcome to these procedure is "Negative:. What to do next, maybe I cleaned the wrong ink absorber. Could you please write a diagram, where the ink absorber is and please explain step by step, that would help. Frustrated Pinky

I tried EVERYTHING else for the MG6200 and none worked. For this series printer you can get up to the "hit the cancel button 5 times and let go of the start button and then wait until the BLUE ON light stops blinking and stays lit" part, but then pressing buttons after that does absolutely nothing!

Downloaded and extracted the RAR, ran through the steps to turn on the printer in Service Mode (Canon MG5250 required pressing the STOP button 5 times) and then the software worked. Just pressed the SET Button on the v4720 Service Tool.

I have been trying everything I can find on google and youtube (short of downloading a sketchy exe file), but I can't reset the page counter. I already cleaned out the ink absorber pads, but my printer won't print until this has been reset. I hate planned obsolescence.

There are various reset methods for different Canon printers. None allow resetting of the 'ink pad full' on the MG2550S, thought you may get limited access to other features like 'nozzle check'. Even physically transfering the eeprom to an eeprom reader/writer doesn't help unless you know what parameters to change.

No, this didn't work. When I plug in the printer while holding the power button, the green light comes on, but nothing else happens. When I release the power button, the light goes off again and the printer does not come on without having reset anything.

Canon printers use small, spongy pads to absorb excess ink that accumulates while printing and cleaning the print heads. When these pads are saturated, the printer will notify you with an error message such as "Ink Absorber Full." Some models display a series of flashing lights that you must consult the user manual to decipher. When the ink absorber pads are full, you can easily remove and clean them on most Canon printers.

Place the pads in the bowl. Rub and squeeze them to remove the ink. When the water becomes opaque with ink, discard the solution and refill the bowl with more warm, soapy water. Continue this procedure until all ink is removed from the pads.

Press and hold the "Power" button and reconnect the power cord. When the printer comes on, release the button. Wait five seconds and push the "Power" button again. This resets the printer's internal memory and overrides the "Ink Absorber Full" error code.

After getting message 1700 "Ink absorber is almost full" I was able to remove and clean the ink absorbing pads and reset the counter. The message no longer displays. However, is there a larger ink absorbing unit beneath these pads, that once full, the printer will no longer function? And if so, how long between this initial warning code and failure to print? I realize that may depend on print volume but a ballpark figure say 100 pages, 1000 pages? Last, if there is a waste ink reservoir, can I replace it?

You say " I was able to remove and clean the ink absorbing pads and reset the counter. The message no longer displays." Please advise how. I have a Pixma G4210 and I want to replace before I get dreaded 5B00 message.

I do not recollect; I searched for how to clean the pads and reset the warning message and found some videos on YouTube. However, that proved to be a temporary fix as the message eventually reappeared, and although I performed the same cleaning and resetting procedure as before, the printer did not respond this time. Again, I don't exactly remember, but maybe I got another month of use out of the printer, but had to replace it in the end. I may be wrong but I think the pads I was able to access were simply small ink absorbers where the print heads rested and underneath was a much larger ink pad that could not be accessed without disassembling the printer. (I made an attempt but failed) When that larger pad became full the printer was bricked.

Hi Geajrpa, I had the same problem with mine today actually it started a few days ago but today it got to the point where it wasn't even letting the scanner work for some reason and the code would come up whenever I went to preview so I don't know why anything having to do with the printer should effect the scanner but evidently it did. So then I was reading through the in one guy said that and I think it was actually a rep from cannon said that when you get that. Toad you've got a change the color cartridge and then so ICunnup come up when I will try to do a preview around that just. Then I did some research and it said. Then if I didn't have AI need a replace that color my tank.

It's like make it worse. I don't know why I didn't mean that for the scanner but that's what it said so I was on my way over to go and get. One? When Found a post here but the CANDIdate community were somebody had gotten some tissue and wiped off the.

Which? Is below or the paper lays and above the pink absorber ripe below the incarceration? And I. Look at a closely and there is all this dried up ink on This plate Which has is evenly raised ridges on it and is the width of A shoot of paper which is the rhythm machine of paper and is ripe below where the a kids the inca cartridges print the paper. There was all these ink stains on it the whole width of it. Which? Was I guess where it was absorbing the equine was So I decided that it needed to be clean so I could come to my broken. Feed the global alcohol and education and I really cleaned the heck out of that plate. I put the ink cartridges back in which we would have to reset metabolism evidence for a while. I think I even feel one of them And then I went to word and I went to maintenance and I printed A test pattern finally and now I also notice that that flashing light had gone off so I went back to my scan gear app.

And I opened it and this scanner now is working so I didn't need to and I try it before. I had tried pushing the power button Monday resume button at the same time and holding it down is waiting 5 seconds all that but none of those work Anyway I hope this Helps god bless!

I have an older Canon MP495 and just replaced both ink cartridges with brand new cartridges. Now I am receiving the error message 'ink absorber full'. How do I reset the absorber counter please?

I have already purchased a new printer to replace my old one, but I hate to waste the ink in my old Canon MP495. I have several projects I could print out to use up the ink, then I will be a happy printer!

Please help!

The ink absorber is not a user serviceable part. Try google for a solution. Note, after removal, cleaning, drying and reinstalling the absorber, the ink counter must be reset. Software to do this is probably available for download, but not from Canon. Other solutions might exist but nothing officially supported by Canon.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. We were able to remove the absorber and clean it. After putting it back into the printer, we tried several solutions to reset the counter. So far, nothing has worked. As soon as we turn the printer off and on, the alarm lights up again. We will keep searching to see if we can find some software as you mentioned. Thank you.

The waste ink absorber is a part inside of your printer that absorbs excess ink used in the cleaning and printing operations. Printing can be performed until the waste ink absorber becomes full. When the message changes to indicate that the waste ink absorber is full, printing cannot be performed and the printer may need to be serviced.
