Question about 'delete and always select next message' pref for Entourage

Hello world. I stumbled onto the prefs/secrets program this morning,
installed it, and it seems to work fine in my system preferences menu
-- I now have a 'secrets' icon with all the menu choices. I selected
the Entourage option to always select the next message when I delete
something. But it doesn't work. I restarted Entourage and reopened it,
however when I delete a message, it still jumps to the above (newer)
message, not the below (older) message. I previously used Outlook and
now Thunderbird at home, so this behavior on my work computer (MacBook
Pro) is driving me crazy. Help please.
