i am using quicksilver b58 and recently i've noticed that it keeps
stalling much more than a couple of weeks ago. i've included the
console logs for QS below in case its helpful and i googled some of
the messages and found a mention of the 1password plugin that,
coincidentally, i'd installed a few weeks back but never really made
much use of. i checked and it does work though.

i switched it off just now to see what happens but wondering if anyone
else has faced recent issues. how does one pinpoint the case of a
specific error in QS?

I'm having the same issue. Hadn't heard anything about the 1password
plugin, so I'm going to try disabling that as well. I'm in the same
boat though, no idea how to effectively troubleshoot QS...

Take that back...I don't even have a 1password QS plugin installed.

Most of those messages are pretty generic and show up for everyone in the Console. They aren't the immediate sign of any failure.

There's no reference to the 1Password plugin, but you're right - it could be the problem. If QS runs smoothly after removing the plugin I'd suggest trying to download the latest version of the 1Password plugin and trying again.

I'd also have a quick look at the rest of the plugins you have installed, and if there are any you don't really need then try removing them.

What does it stall on? If it's slow to appear or when searching, it's probably Quicksilver itself. Wiping out the cache folders might help.

If it's slow in showing the actions when you tab to the second pane, it's probably a plug-in. I glanced at the source for the 1Password module and it isn't doing the type of thing that would cause such a delay, so I would look elsewhere if you think it's a plug-in.

If you need something, that doesn't mean someone else owes it to you. If you don’t need something, that doesn’t mean someone else can take it.

Rob - thanks for the useful tips. I see the SBB when I hover pointer
over the QS menubar icon and it usually comes back to life after a
whole but I kill it if I'm unsure or impatient. This has been
happening more often in the last few months. I must have changed
something.

On that note has anyone really used time machine to roll back to
specific application configurations in osx? Is it straightforward if
so?

It should be just like restoring any other file/folder. The only thing that might be difficult is knowing which files and folders to go get for a particular application (but that's pretty well documented for Quicksilver at this point).
