I've got 1700 delicious bookmarks and other folders indexed. Is there
some way to tell QS to rank my applications above these other matches
without having to do it one by one.

No, I don't believe there's a way to rank types, just individual items. I will say that the automatic ranking that happens as you use Quicksilver works pretty well, but that takes time.

One way to target a specific type is to use it's catalog entry. (In your Catalog prefs, make sure “Quicksilver Catalog Entries” is selected.) You should be able to search for “Applications (Catalog)” in the first pane, then select the “Search Contents” action. This will give you a blank Quicksilver interface and whatever you search for will now be limited to Applications. (It'll go back to normal the next time you invoke Quicksilver.)

If you want to do this often, you could create a trigger for it. I have triggers that take me straight to a search for Artists and one for Remote Hosts.

I know this is an old thread, but I do think it would be great if we could rank catalogs. Perhaps if the user could just mark them high/low. My main use case would be bookmarks/history as well.
