Version-Build Questions

I am running version B54(3815).
I like to run the latest build of an application on the assumption
that it has corrected something or is improved otherwise.

I saw a reference to http://lipidity.com/software/quicksilver/ which
was referred to as «Ankur's build».

I downloaded the file. I was a B55 version.
When I started to run it, I was informed that it was an older version.

1. How many builds are there?
2. Is there a central location from which to access the various
builds?
3. What are the features of each build?
4. How does one choose which build to use?

So, which of the two versions that I have should I run?

Build numbers are currently meaningless as Ankur's build number is
3814 even though it is not the same as the official 3814. Basically
ignore build numbers for the moment...

I recommend wiping out (appzapping) B54 before installing B55 (from
Ankur), it will make life much easier.
