Did you mean to say it “does not” show the Search For… action?
I've entered entering a Custom Web Search option in the Web Search List
"https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=***&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8",
but don't seem to be able to point to this when entering text in the first
interface pane, thus allowing "Search For..." as an available command.
When you create your own web searches, you should be able to specify both a Name and a URL. You should be able to locate the web search by typing part of its name.
It sounds like either the name you assigned to the search doesn’t contain GOOGLE, or it’s just not the default when you search for those letters. That is, Quicksilver’s catalog has both a bookmark to google.com from your browser and the web search for Google. Try scrolling through the results with the arrow keys. Your web search should be there somewhere.
FYI, save yourself some time and just type GG to find Google, or even just G. You might have to use the arrow keys to select the right thing a few times, but after just a couple of uses, Quicksilver should learn what you meant and make the web search the default match for whatever you type. The answer to your first question is Yes - when I was typing google into the first pane, the pane then populates with my existing safari bookmark for www.google.com. Consequently second pane (where an action/command will go) does NOT show the Search For action. I am sorry that I failed to see that error in my post.
Because of this behavior, I then went about making a custom search.
Regarding your advice on pulling up my custom search - after I initially created it, my custom search would not appear in the choice list after i typed "google" into the first pane (I scrolled down looking for it). That behavior must have been an indexing issue(?). I guess the indexes refreshed, because after restarting my machine today the custom search does appear as a match choice after typing "google", and I've been able to set it as the default. It results in the "Search With...." command populated into the 2nd pane, and the interface is queued for text input in the 3rd pane. Sweet.
Again, thanks. I'll mark this query as complete - it is from my perspective.
