Hi All,

I'm wondering if there's going to be an update to the web searches
that the company provides, specifically the one that appears as "Web
Searches (from docs.blacktree.com)"? Currently the allmusic search
doesn't work. I believe it's because allmusic.com changed their
site. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Use the Web Search Module to create a custom Web Search List in the
Catalog.

hmm, nice collection of custom searches
wondering if it would be good to make available on the wiki a few canonical search examples for others to use as templates?

p.s. what did the ones prefaced qss-http mean?

Howard Melman explains it here:
http://bit.ly/i1PqI6

I've never noticed the difference, I deleted the qss- from a search
url and it functioned the same.

I believe qss-http: is just for symmetry with qssp-http: (which does a POST).

I don't think there should be a difference between using qss-http and just http but I seem to recall there were some instances where it worked better (perhaps due to a bug).

Allmusic search stopped working for me a little while back. AFAIK this happened well after the launch of the new site.

Seems to me the problem is that the search no longer works without HTTP or WWW in the URL. I have tried one or both of those in my search source (http://allmusic.com/search/all/***) but upon invocation they do not appear in the URL loaded by the browser. I have confirmed that this is not a browser-specific issue.

Is there a way to force Quicksilver to keep the search URLs exactly as entered?

If I add a search using `http://www.allmusic.com/search/all/***`, it works as expected. I don’t see the “http://” part in Safari, but that’s just its cutesy nonsense. It’s there.

And now I’m stuck reading album reviews.

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't work for me.

What happens if you paste this into a browser (don't click it):

It redirects me to the main page (www.allmusic.com). It works if I type `www.allmusic.com/search/all/beck`, but you said yourself it doesn’t work without the “www”.

That's what's happening when I use the search "http://www.allmusic.com/search/all/***"

I get redirected to the homepage. Quicksilver is not including the HTTP or WWW in the URL.

How are you adding the search URL to the catalog?

I fixed the problem. For some reason my trigger was not using the source I had added to the web search list, it was using another source.

Thanks for your help, Rob.

Yeah, if you’re defining your own (which I do), you might want to go to Preferences → Catalog → Plugins and uncheck the two “Web Searches” presets to reduce noise in your catalog.

I'm still having intermittent problems with my triggered searches. Usually on startup, a search shows no results. If I restart QS a couple of times, the searches start "taking" again. Any ideas?

Are you using the BezelHUD interface, by any chance?

BezelHUD has known problems with discarding whatever you enter in the third pane. No one is supporting/updating BezelHUD now, so you’ll need to use a different interface.

Nostromo. I don’t like for names and details to be truncated.
