Have you tried this under B54? I rely on some proxy objects that don’t work under B56 or B57, but are still working in B54. I wonder if your issue is related.

fixed itself at some point, but only works for Finder items, while the
"Finder Selection" default trigger shows as "Execute (null)". Using
b57.
I also had a pair of scripts set up to maximise windows on either of
my displays via keyboard triggers. These reset to "Run Script (null)"
every time QS is restarted in the recent betas.

the list of apps that the third pane can choose from is practically
useless. No Preview, TextEdit, Word, Skim, etc. Just random apps that
I never use and have been cluttering my "open with" list for ages.
This problem applies to both the latest "for SL" version and beta 54,
on OS X 10.6.2. (I've lost track of how many times I've switched back
and forth between versions just to get things working, only to find
that the switch broke other things. The latest version is not
"snappier" at all -- there's a definite lag time.)

As far as I know, the only things that don’t work in B54 are:
* the Preferences interface (which I never mess with after this many years)
* scopes for Triggers
Am I missing something?

up if i just cmd-g something into quicksilver. Do you have a
suggestion for this?
(in beta54, I also have a problem with my clipboard showing up
randomly or when I'm quitting an app; I can't look up a word by typing
in "dictionary" -- i have to use "define with dict.org," etc. mostly
minor stuff except for the 1st thing, but i just wanted to point out
it's more than what you listed.)

My “open with” menu was problematic at one point but I don’t remember what (if anything) I did to fix it. Mine is fine under 10.6.2 with B54, and I was able to make a working trigger using “Current Selection ⇥ Open with…”, so it can be done. I don’t know if “open with” is any better or worse under B57, but it definitely has a few problems with proxy objects (which is why I haven’t upgraded).
I would suggest quitting Quicksilver and deleting `~/Library/Caches/com.blacktree.Quicksilver` and/or `~/Library/Caches/Quicksilver` then restarting. Perhaps also manually rescan your Applications entry in the catalog.
As for the other stuff:

I had this bad going back as far as 10.4. It still happens from time to time, but rarely, and a restart usually makes it stop.

Does this work in any version under Snow Leopard? I think the Dictionary app underwent some changes that may have broken the plug-in. I find ⌃⌘D to be convenient enough that I don’t go to Quicksilver for dictionary stuff.

Something else I was going to mention about this and forgot: Since you’ve been testing with multiple versions, make sure you only keep the one you’re currently using on your system. Having multiple copies present is known to screw up “get current selection” behavior.
For copies you’re not using, either delete them, zip them, or keep them on a disk image that’s unmounted most of the time.
