Finally, after strugling months without Quicksilver, I finally manage
to trick the QS works with SL faster than ever, never been crashed
since.

Actually, the B54 is the best built for Snow Leopard, for the complete
instruction, please visit:

Thanks for this. I think I misunderstood something. Is it really the
case using B54 on 10.6 that the triggers, catalog and plugins panel
works but it's just the preferences panel that doesn't? I thought it
was all of them. If it's just prefs then B54 is fine for me, I haven't
changed those prefs in over a year.

Hi

Yes, it is only the preferences panes that doesn't show up (if you're
using B54 on Snow), everything else works great.

Do you really mean *everything* just like B54(3815) on Leopard?
That would be a big relief.

My concerns are these:

1. Catalog
No delay while searching (some have reported delay after they type the
search query in B56a7. So hopefully that a B56a7 issue)
2. Comma trick
3. Ability to run applescript from the second pane (some have reported
problems with "Run" action in B56a7)

Hi

I haven't tried all the plugins especially mentioned here like airport
module, etc.

But those catalog indexing/searching, comma tricks, applescripts,
sending email in the background (send directly) work great!

Last time, when I used the B56a7, searching bookmark safari took too
long for QS to accomplish, but using this B54, it is fast.

Regarding the Applescript on the second pane, I haven't tried that, I
only use the tinyurl script in first pane QS

This is also a big relief for me, too. :)

I just came across this last night, after being frustrated for weeks
now with QS's sluggish performance under Snow Leopard. It seems to
work perfectly, QS is as fast as it was on Leopard, no longer having
lag/delay/pausing issue when typing and searching for items.

It's discerning how QS development has seem to come to a complete stop
though... it's just barely working under Snow Leopard, and to get the
best performance I have to give up the ability to edit Preferences
(not like I've done that in like a year anyway).

Has anyone who's followed this trick switched back to b56a7?
I switched back, thinking temporarily, to change some preferences...
Only to find b56a7 equally fast again.

Is it possible b54 heals some issue with the catalog or other piece of
info? And after that happens b56a7 is good to go again.

As far as I can tell using the switch to b54 trick and then switching
back works. Can anyone else verify or dispute this?

I'll try switching back to b56a7 when I get home tonight and see what
happens.

Hi

I 've tried this before, switched it back to B56a7, but when I tried
to 'send directly' on 3rd pane for mailing atachment, it didn't work.
This was the main reason I switched back to B54 immediately

Please share,

thanks

I tried reinstalling B56a7 after B54.... The performance of B56a7 is
definitely worse. They might seem to be about the same if you're just
doing one or two initial searches... but if you were performing
multiple actions, it's very clear that B54 is much, much faster.

By reinstall B56a7 do you mean just swapping the application while
keeping ~/library/application support/quicksilver & /cache and /
preferences files as they were in the B54 version I've been using? If
so it crashes for me.

I've been using B54 a few days now. I found after a few hours of using
the newly replaced B54 when I tried opening the triggers pane it was
blank if it opened at all. However placing an old triggers.plist from
the B56a7 I'd been using where the new triggers.plist was under ~/
library/application support/quicksilver worked fine meaning I had all
my old triggers. If I want to add a new trigger I need to swap B54
with the altered B56a7, remove the QS application support file, open
QS and add just the triggers plist back to the newly generated app
suppt file under ~/library/application support. Then reverse the
process afterwards.

I also found the clipboard and shelf disappear after a period of not
being used and can only be brought back by clicking on clipboard and
shelf in the plug-ins dropdown from the menu bar 3 times. Always 3.
I've only tried one script from the second pane and it didn't work but
all the first pane ones do. Other than it's working perfectly.

I had so many issues with B56a7 that I'm sticking with B54 and I'm
really grateful for the original post in Appledoes.

Does LargeType work for you with B54 and SL?

Yes. Everything works as it did before snow leopard. The bezelHUD
interface doesn't work with it though. Unfortunately.

Thanks for replying. That BezelHUD does not work isn't nice, still
LargeType and all the other features are more important. I will give
it a try when I have to set up my new machine the next days.

There was an updated version of BezelHUD created for b56a7. I was
using it and it prevented b54 from launching. Is it possible that you
installed that one at some point?

I downloaded the original BezelHUD from Julius Eckert and it's working
fine in b54.

The magnitude of a problem does not affect its ownership.
