If you are seeing this problem when trying to update Quicksivler ß61 or ß62, this is a known bug.

Both these versions of Quicksilver had a serious bug that broke automatic updating.
Please download and install the latest version of Quicksilver manually from http://qsapp.com/download.php

Once you have done this, you will not see the problem again.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Enjoy the new version of Quicksilver! As always, let us know if you have any feedback.

I'm having a different problem altogether. I had to uninstall Quicksilver because of other issues I was having. I downloaded the new version & it open the installer app, but after I tell it to install to applications & enter my password, the installer app shuts down w/o installing anything. Please tell me there's a workaround for this, I'm lost w/o Quicksilver.

Quicksilver doesn’t use an installer and you shouldn’t need to enter your password to copy it to /Applications if you’re an admin user. And if you’re not an admin user, I don’t think you can do it even with a password. So that sounds suspicious.

I’m not 100% sure what happens if you try to run it from inside the DMG. I think it tries to move itself and relaunch or something, so maybe that’s what you’re referring to, but the simple answer is: Don’t do that.

Try this:

  1. Make sure you have the official distribution from qsapp.com.
  2. Open the DMG to mount the disk
  3. Open a new Finder window and go to /Applications (⌘N then ⇧⌘A)
  4. Drag Quicksilver from the DMG to Applications, replacing an existing copy if asked
  5. Launch the copy of Quicksilver in Applications
  6. “Eject” the Quicksilver volume created by the DMG
  7. Trash or archive the DMG

Please tell me there's a workaround for this, I'm lost w/o Quicksilver.

Tell me about it. A computer without it feels broken.
