How can I remove a specific item from the shelf? I've tried editing
the file (~/Library/Application\ Support/Quicksilver/Shelves/
General.qsshelf) directly but in the end had to delete it entirely.
There must be a straightforward method to prune the shelf that 'm
overlooking. Anyone know what it is?

Cheers, Alex

Bring up the shelf window, click on an item to select it, hit the
delete button.

Lots of people miss this simple method (I did at first). I wonder why?

When I did some google-ing, i found that you are supposed to be able to open QS, go to the shelf, and drag the items you want to remove to the trash.  That seemed to work for others, however it never worked for me.  the only thing i could do was delete the file you found already and start over.

maybe someone here has a fix for why it never worked for me? or others with similar problems.
thx

I tried both the Delete key method and dragging to the Trash. Neither
worked for me. What build do these technique work with? I'm running
β53 (3814) because I need Social Bookmarks to work.

Works with me for B54 (3815) and I think it worked with B53.

What happens when you highlight a shelf item and hit the delete key?
Are there any messages in the console? What is the shelf item you're
trying to remove?

I seem to remember this not working for me in B53, either, at one
point, though I think it magically fixed itself. Have you tried the
"Remove from shelf" action?

Both delete and fn+delete give me nothing but a (system) error noise.
The Console does not register that anything has happened.

I don't have a "Remove From Shelf" action, though I do have a "Put On
Shelf" action. I thought this was odd when I first encountered this
situation. Is it something that I can add individually?

Cheers, Alex

@Chris

To be clear, I am using a MacBook but I don't believe that this is the
root of my problem.

I don't believe there is a Remove From Shelf action.

Hmmm, works for me. I don't know what's wrong.

I have a similar but different problem. In Mail.app, when composing a
message the shortcut opt-cmd-' to do Decrease Quote Level doesn't
work, it just beeps. It's supposed to, the menu command works but not
the shortcut. I don't know why. It also didn't work on my PowerBook G4
before this MacBook Pro. I don't know how to narrow it down. It's not
a QS trigger getting in the way or anything else I can figure out.

It would be nice to find a way to figure out what is consuming the key
event.
