Quicksilver hangs when
i select an app/folder and
select action "Show contents Menu"
and use keyboard (down arrow, right arrow etc)
if i use the mouse then it does not hang.
Anyone else facing the problem.

Does for me too (B54 3815 on 10.5.4). Goes into a nasty loop chewing
up 600MB of RAM in less than a minute and growing. Had to force quit
it.

Don't do that. :(

But someone must fix this, its annoying to use the mouse.

Why are you using the Show Contents Menu action to use the keyboard to
navigate? Why not just use the 2nd pane and type the action you
want? What specifically are you trying to do?

nothing specific. i thought setting a trigger for "show contents menu"
would be a faster and more convenient way than accessing the menus but
i have also realised that "show contents menu" shows very few items
and therefore not of much use. (for example, in Safari all i get is
the Bookmarks)

Maybe you want Show Menu Items

even in "Show Menu"(and not "Show Menu Items" as u said) i get only
the bookmarks for Safari

Hmm, it's not working for me either (on 10.5.4), I don't get anything
back, not even bookmarks.

See the section Dynamically Accessing a Menu in the manual for the
various options and requirements, but it's probably flakey on leopard.

i read "Dynamically Accessing a Menu" and it does give me a lot more
options (atleast all of the File menu options) and many more....but it
is taking a really long time to display the actions .....infact i even
had to force QS to quit and restart....what to do to speed it up....is
it also related to the catalog?

Well it does take a while since QS has to ask the app what it's menus
are. If there are a lot of items (like if you have a lot of safari
bookmarks) it takes a long time.

I'm confused as to what you're trying to do.

Are you trying to use Quicksilver's ability to dynamically search the
menu bar of an open application as an alternative to mousing through
the menu bar? (The menu bar is the grey bar at the top of the
screen). If it's this one, then you need to enable a lot of features
to get it working: #1, access for assistive devices, #2, the Menu
Interface plugin, #3 advanced features, and #4, proxy objects. Then
you need to make sure to use the correct actions: "Menu Bar Items..."
and "Menu Bar...". These two actions allow you to search through
current application's list of menu bar actions. Items... will search
all the items, and Menu Bar... will only search the header
categories. This was a really cool feature of QS pre-Leopard, but
Leopard incorporated the idea into the system itself, and I like
Leopard's implementation better. cmd-shift-/ (aka cmd-?) is now a
find-as-you-type search bar for menu bar commands, as well as
searching help.

Or are you trying to use quicksilver's action "menu", which is not the
same thing at all, but rather a menu of quicksilver actions that are
available for the object you've selected? If that is the case, why
are you using it? That action menu is for use with the mouse,
presumably designed to be set up as an Abracadabra trigger (but I've
never used that side of things, so I don't really know).

i started the discussion because of problem of using keyboard in
accessing the "show menu"
the solution i have found now is to press the right arrow after
bringing Safari in first pane.
