Trigger Key Combos

I have left my trigger key combination to activate Quicksilver ^_.
After I activate Quicksilver is that combination supposed to bring
forward that little search/typing box? I was under the impression that
no matter what program I was working in, that key combination was
supposed to work. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for me, even
if the active program is Quicksilver and there is nothing else
running. The only way I can get that box to appear is to click on the
Quicksilver icon in the docking bar.

Any suggestions?

Most likely, something else is using that shortcut. I’m not sure what the best way is to find out what it is. That probably depends on which version of OS X you’re on. But changing Quicksilver’s activation shortcut to something else temporarily would at least let you know if it’s working correctly.
