I'm using v1.5.6 (4021) on an iMac (Retina 5k, 27" late 2014) running High Sierra 10.13.1.

Every time I launch QS, I get the popup of the app "can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer". Each time I get this, I go back to the Security & Privacy prefs and click on "Open Anyway". After that, I get a popup saying that opening the app now "will always allow it to run on this Mac." Then it launches.

But when I quit the app, or after rebooting the Mac, I have to go through the same process again.

Looking for any clues to what I have to do to properly make approving this app to 'stick', please.

We added a framework that messed up code signing in the last release and
didn’t notice until it was too late. Sorry about that.

I hope to have a new version out in the next day or two, so it won’t
be an issue, but…

Try deleting the current copy, downloading it again and dragging it to
Applications using Finder. Finder specifically sets some flags when you
do this. If not, the app is launched from a different random path every
time. That might be what’s going on.

I was launching from /Applications each time. However, I deleted from there and proceeded as you suggested here. This time it worked.

Thanks!

It’s not about where you launch it from. It’s about how you copied it there in the first place. But it sounds like it won’t matter for a properly signed app.

Quicksilver 1.5.7 is out now and should be signed for Gatekeeper.
