Current Selection Triggers don't work

I've been searching the discussions, but the only results I get are
just slightly different, or older. Is anyone else having issues with
triggers in the latest version ß58 (3841)? My MacBook Pro is a few
years old, but the software is completely up to date (10.6.4). I
really only want two: one to open a file in preview and one to open a
file in Textmate. I had one working a month or so ago, and then I
noticed that I could upgrade to a newer version, and now it isn't
working.

The "Open with..." action very rarely appears when I have "Current
selection..." as the item. It appears only sometimes after I've
created a trigger, closed and restarted Quicksilver, and edit the
trigger. And then sometimes it doesn't appear. I only get "Ouvrir"
even though I'm not french, and my system is not set to french.

Once, I was able to get one of the triggers I want setup properly,
"Current selection" > "Open with" > "Preview.app" but whenever I hit
the Hotkey (cmd+shift+P) I got the graphical effect of QS opening a
file, but nothing happened after that. Since then, I completely
uninstalled, cleared out the application support folder, and
reinstalled, and since then I haven't been able to get the trigger to
work properly.

What's the best way for me to debug this, and figure out what's going
wrong?

I suspect it has to do with the “Current Selection” proxy object and isn’t a problem with Triggers. Problems with proxy objects are the reason I haven’t upgraded yet.
